Hi all,
X-Pipes are now available here in UK from RITECH.
I already have an RMB on my 1986 S2 (16 valve,4,7)
I quite fancy the x-pipes as well,BUT everyone i speak to here in UK says they will be much too LOUD if i use both![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Also there is a track here in UK that is used for Porsche 928 track days with a 100 Decibel limit![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
If i did fit both as its an 86 I have no cats so id have the X >>> then the large exhaust boxes each side in front of the rear axle>>>>then nothing else as RMB....
SO....2 questions....
1, Has anyone actually fitted BOTH ? And if so how loud is too loud ?Its my daily driver in a town....
2, OVER 100 DB ???
All the best Brett![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I have both on an 86 32V engine and it sounds great. Drones a bit at highway speed, but I like it just fine. It is fairly loud but not sure where it would fall on a db meter.
If you throw your original rear muffler in the car when you go to the track, you can put it on if they find the RMB to exceed their limit.
I drive mine to work occasionally, but stay off the revs. If you want a bit more subtle daily driver, rear exhaust may need to go back on. I've heard that 16 valve engines roar more with open exhaust than a 32 v.
Sorry I couldn't give you exactly what you wanted, but it is a start...

I THINK I saw someone say in a UK 928 forum that they were £900 to buy from Porsche![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I do like LOUD but not if im going to be arrested by the nearest copper (policeman) lol![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I had x and rmb for a few days on my '87.....how loud was it? I can't describe in words how loud it was at WOT. Race car volume, period. I have a loud mx bike, street bike, but this was way too much.

Brett what you are talking about would basically be straight pipes. Maybe a bit too loud. I have an S2 and my own custom setup that sounds great. I would ditch those middle resonators and add hi-flow metal spiral cats after the x-pipe. That would sound great.

S2 is not modular, it is welded together. I run X and RMB on the S4 but I abolutely would never run that on a 16V .... Pat Edwards did. Ask him how his cochlear implants are doing.

I've got a 91 GT with an X pipe, no cats and an RMB. Idle is nice and throaty. acceleration is loud, WOT is race car open exhaust HOLY $HIT!!! I absolutely LOVE it, but I'm planning on adding a 21/2 inch cat back system with an after market muffler for the extra power and a more civilized exhaust note. BTW, the GT produces a REALLY annoying sound around 2000 to 2800 rpm with my present set-up. It's a good think I'm almost never that low.

I have an S2 with headers, 3.5" Y, single 3" pipe, and a 4x9" Magnaflow. It's a little louder than David Lloyd's race car (5.0 Euro hybrid IIRC). Since David Lloyd probably isn't getting popped for noise at races, I doubt you will with what should be a quieter system.

Hi TV ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If i DID run X and RMB ...there would still be the 2 large boxes in front of rear axle...are they not mufflers of some type ??
As its U.K S2 I have no cats anyway
Just 2 small long round boxes at front of both pipes that would be replaced by the X...

Brett,
The stock S2 set-up from the factory had a big resonator where a cat would go, then those 2 small mid resonators going back to the big tub like muffler. If you go with an x-pipe, I am suggesting to put (2) 5 inch stainless steel hi flow cats connected to the x pipe, then some SS pipes back to your RMB if its dual. The cats will act as mufflers and make your exhaust smell good. The final sound will be just right at idle and light acceleration and like crazy at WOT!!
Take these parts to a muffler shop and have them bend and weld what needs to be done to get it right. I made my own all SS as I am a tig welder.

Brian,
Just be t'ankful it's me CAR exaust we're talkin' about b'y!
Brett,
Those are "resonators" which, I THINK are there to modify the sound rather than muffle it. In the GT they're basically straight pipes.
