I hope I'm not too late. I saw that there were still a few copies of the WSMs available in a thread earlier. I did a search but now I can't seem to find it. Who was offering them for sale and what was their price? I don't even have a 928 yet as I am still collecting funds, but I am certain that one is in my future. I just had the revelation that I am going to need these manuals so I had better get them while the getting is good.
So, anyone out there still have them for sale? Or am I too late?

You are I believe too late... we had all the last ones as far as I know. There is an online book seller who had 10 copies at a price of $475 as of a few weeks ago but Porsche has (area parts representitive) said they do not intend to ever print the 928 manuals again. The manuals at the close out pricing ranged from $195 to $295 depending on where and when !

I did a search for Porsche 928 workshop manuals of ebay motors and came up with "the complete set of workshop manuals- 6 volumes for $200" The picture looked like the real thing, but I thought that the set was 9 volumes not 6. So, I'm a little hesitant to bite on something like that. Nothing worse than spending big $ and then still not have what you need.
Well, if none of the big 3 have them anymore does anyone have any laying around that they would like to sell cheap?
And (looks both ways to make sure no one can overhear) are the manuals on CD worth purchacing? I would prefer to do that through a respected renlister even if it costs a few $ more. (although I do have limits)

Yes, the manuals on CD are definately worth it. I have the printed manuals but find myself using the CD ones often because:
-easy to electronically cut and paste when asking a question or giving an answer on rennlist
-easy to print a page to markup with notes as you disassemble a part
-easy to print a page to take under the car and not worry about getting it greasy/dirty/oily
-easy to take with you if you want to reference it at a friend's house or on travel
Also Jim's version comes with the PET (parts lookup) which is very usefull.
I think Jim's new version allows you to easily search the shop manuals. Is this true?

Yes. I don't know if it's the latest, but my set Jim's CD includes the full WSM (searchable), tech spec books, technical service bulletins, a TB change video, PET 6, and some other misc. stuff. 4 CDs in all.
I think I was actually the first person to come out with a pdf version of the manuals, but Jim's are so superior, I use his.
Thanks Jim!

I had a CD that came with the car when I bought it. I am assuming it is NOT one of Jim M's copies as it doesn't have all of the bell's and whistles. I thought it was too much trouble searching through the cd so I bought the books. I got some of the last batch and think they are better than the CD. For the money, you can't beat the CD. But the books are better in my opinion.

Books with < 9 volumes will likely have been purchased in some intermediate year. A guy gave me a "complete" set... 4 books. It was "Complete" for 78 & had the 79 updates packed separately. 6 volumes was probably the right size for mid-80's purchase timeframe.
