Unusual sticker
Found this sticker on the drivers side floor of a 79 5 spd. Never seen it before. I'm guessing it is used at time of assembly to delineate auto vs stick... Anyone else have one??

I agree with Scuba Steve. It was probably for line workers to remember that 1st is DOWN! Can you imagine the guy starting a fresh 928 off the line to take it to the lot, putting into what he thinks is 1st gear, revs it and BAM! smacks the car behind him! Pretty cool! What's the vin on that car?

Edit: Actually everytime I let some drive my 928 (that's not familiar with the 928 shift pattern) I tell them about 1st gear being down. 1st stop and they forget and invariably put it into reverse. So I'd put the money on it being a dumb**** reminder...

I assume Scott took the picture either from the open door or the driver's seat... why is the sticker upside down?
I keep trying to put my dad's Saab into reverse on the highway. In the 928 5th is back right and in the Jeep 6th is back right. It's a good thing the Saab has a reverse lock out that you have to lift.

I doubt it was placed there for the yutz to put the car in gear. More likely put there to tell assembly line workers which cars were destined for a 5 spd and which for automatics, as the bodies are different.

But Scott, why would R and 1 be in bold if not to call out their relative position?
