Intensive washer system not working
While under the dash this weekend trying to fix my broken hood release system
I noticed two rotary ***** and two push buttons on either side of the pod bottom. The owners manual for my early 86 states" The passenger side **** is for the intermittent wiper speed adjustment and the push button is for
the intensive washer system". There is no mention of the driver's side.
Does anyone know what the rotary ****/button on the Driver's side is for?.
In either case both do not work. Also the main winshield washer system does not work as well.
Where sould I start?.
Already checked the fuses and they are good. Just replaced the wipe relay too.

The left side rotary should be for dash brightness. There are fuses for the pump motors. The intensive wash reservoir is under the cover in the front top of the driver side firewall. It may be empty. After you have checked the fuses (see fuse diagram on cover of fuse pannel) check the hoses the meet at the junction on the underside of the hood. They come off some times then the windshield wash just goes into the hood. I have never used my intensive washer............

Rotary **** on DS is for the pod/instruments dimmer.
As for the intensive washer you might have some seized up pumps the intensive washer is under the left side portion of the hood under the wiper motor cover remove the rubber sealing and then lift out the plastic the wires might be off the resivgour. The headlight and winshield washe pumps are both located on the washer resivour this one is inside the aft portion of the right front wheel to get to this one you need to remove your RF fenderliner after this you will see the resivour, you may be able to remove the both pumps after removing the tank also a good time to replace your Y connector just below the carbon cannister in the RF wheel well

I use my intensive washer system everytime I go offroad swampin' with my 928's. In concert with the headlight washers, the intensive washers really help quickly get rid of all that thick splashed mud as I dive into mud pits in first gear.

I disconnected my main washer pump and ran 2 jumper wires from the plug to my my intense washer pump. Now when I hit the washers I am actually using the intense system with regular washer fluid. I freed up my main washer tank in preparation for my intercooler.

Mine does...push the wiper lever on the steering column toward the dash...= headlight washer...my question is , do the cars have a Rear windshield washer ?? Perhaps the other pushbutton, inder the pod (on the left side ???) Also...the headlight washer system ONLY operates with the headlights ON and raised.

Early cars have the intensive washer in a small tank in front of the radiator. The pump is underneath the tank.
...
jeff jackson,
Rear squirter was a GTS option (as was the pop-out CD caddy in the door).
Chuck Z has the option, but steadfastly refuses to show us the plumbing for it.

However, there are people who live in dusty regions, don't have time to wash ther car, or just plain like an additional gadget... Porsche needed to capitalize on that Cost for this option was about $1k

First - In a quiet place, with the ignition on but the engine not running, activate the regular washer system, then the intensive washer system.
Did you hear the pump running in each case?
If not, either the pumps are not getting power or they are seized.
If you do hear the pumps, the most likely problem is then that the tiny check valves inside the rear of the hood are stuck, or the nozzles are plugged. Pull the hose off of the connector on the bottom of the hood - Careful - the connector breaks easily! Now operate the pumps. If you get fluid from the hose, the pumps work.
Check the nozzles for plugging first. If that doesn't help, tie a strong cord to the driver's side hose and pull the hoses out the passenger side, leaving the cord in the hood to pull the hoses back in.
I've never had much luck cleaning the check valves. If you don't need the intensive washer system (and don't intend to buy the special fluid, P/N 928.628.931.00, @ $15.88 a liter), you can simplify the plumbing to eliminate the check valves. If you want to keep the system intact, the Windshield Washer Check Valves, '77-'95, P/N 914.628.215.00, cost $4.99 each.
The intensive washer system does do a super job of cleaning the windshield of road scum, though. How much would it be worth in heavy traffic at night in a drizzle?

Sure, but it won't do anything that the regular system won't already do.
The "intensive" is the special silicone-removing fluid mentioned above...
If you aren't going to use the special fluid, there is no need to use the intensive washer system.

The hose is the same as run to the windshield washers. It goes down the B pillar to the floor where it runs along the outer edge along the rocker, to the right of the fuse panel and through the firewall to the tank. Here's the best pics I have, you'll have to take my word on the rest as I don't seem to have any pics of anything else.... I'll get more when I have some time.

Chuck thanks! Wow, tht routing is a real surprise. Do you think you could find the part number on the rear stuff? Or should I ask this way ... is there a rear pump? Do they actuate with front ones or separately? Switch?
