Default Resistor on Temp II?

Doing some cleaning on the 85 euro. The temp II sensor on the front water bridge was a bit shakey, so I took the covering off and I found a sensor soldered inline with one of the two wires... What is this?

Checking WSMs.... But thought I would post here.

I had the same thing hidden in my harness. I think it may have been a gerry-fix for all the vacuum leaks. (The added resistance will richen the mixture.)

I found it because I moved the harness and managed to snap the tiny resistor they used in half, which made a no start.

Some do this mod to correct cold starting/running when they fail to complete proper
diagnostics, i.e. it richens the mixture for BOTH cold & warm.
