Jager GTRSS?

Jager GTRSS?
I did a search and nothing really came up... so is the GTRSS kit from jager like a kickdown button on your shifter?
Is it worth it and how does it work?

I have one and it takes a bit of getting used to, but I like it. You still need to have a heavy foot to take advantage of it, mine doesn't automatically shift down unless you hit the accelerator pretty hard.
Makes me wish I had a standard transmission. Maybe in the future. ;-)

Hi,
Interesting reply...I had always assumed that it was the same as my self wired kickdown switch (that DOES) change down on slightest throttle pressure.
I always wondered how the JAEGER one managed with 2 buttons...1 for kickdown and 2 for detent...
The way I did it was to use a "FIGHTER PILOT TYPE SWITCH" with a flick off sprung cover, then i flick the switch,a pretty blue LED in tip of switch comes on (useful at night as the blue glow is obvious without looking down)
My switch is under steering column.
When I have finsihed with switch i just reach down and flick the cover closed...this also closes the switch...and the autobox changes up automatically....etc...
Hope this helps,
Brett

That's the way I wish mine worked. I had it installed while some repair work was being done. (I had a fire on the way home after I purchased the car and had to leave it in Dallas for three weeks.) Maybe someone else who has one can respond. Maybe mine is not working properly - hope springs eternal. ;-)
I think Nicole sells them as well as has one installed, maybe she can share how hers works.

No Pics sorry.
But ANY auto shop sells them in UK,,,called "FIGHTER PILOT SWITCHES"
I assume your auto shops will sell them as well,,,here they cost around £12 ($16 ?)
They come with various colour flick open covers and various colour LEDS in tip of stainless steel switches...green,blue red yellow etc...
The type of shops that sell them here are normally frequented by the young lads who have Japanese cars with LOTS OF PRETTY LIGHTS all over and under them lol
All the best Brett
Gone to bed (1.30 am) will reply if needed tomorrow evening

Yes, I 've sold three of them so far, but have not had the chance to put one into my own car, yet.
The switch is installed at the shifter cage at the bottom of the console - not in the actual shifter ****. The installation is totally invisible when done.
The kit includes all parts necessary for the installation - including relays, wire harness, connectors, and detailed instructions. It looks like it can be installed in less than 2 hours.
I asked Paul to chime in here, as he can answer your questions in a lot more technical detail than I can.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I vote for the bowden cable......unless your stock kickdown switch is going out.
I tightened my throttle cable this past weekend to fix a WOT problem...& it also made the car start in first gear at anything other than extremely easy cruise speed! I like it...far more responsive...fix one problem and get another benefit!!! Sweet!

Hello all,
I have the prototype from Paul Jager. Installation is easy but final adjustment took a bit of fiddling as I had a bit of play in my shifter mechanism. But the thing works flawlessly.
It does work exactly as any kickdown bypass would, so if you experience a delay in response, something else is the culprit. The kickdown switch needs a few parameters to align before it does it's work. When everything is adjusted correctly, after pressing and holding the kickdown button (shifter button) I only need to press the gas pedal about a third of the way to get a downshift. The actual downshift also depends on speed, which gear you are in etc.
It's also easy with this kit to add an in line permanent switch. I did so for those situations when I would want the kickdown to remain on without holding the shifter button.

Hi
Bill,,its the second link....the safety cover comes back like mine
Champagne....Are you saying that with the JAEGER you have to HOLD the button IN ALL THE TIME for the kickdown to be active ???
With a switch like mine...its ACTIVE all the time until you flick the cover closed (which also closes the switch)
Much safer !!! I wouldnt fancy going round a bend steering one handed while holding tha Jaeger button down
Or am I misreading how it works ??
All the best BRETT
