Re: My theory of Turn 2 @ T-hill. The radius of the turn is so large that a wider entry doesn't really buy you anything on the exit. No matter how wide the entry, you're still going end up hugging the inside radius of the turn and modulating the throttle for some period of time. I still have the same apex speed and can still go to full throttle at the same time as if I had taken the wide entry. I've just avoided running that extra distance and the extra slowing you need to do to create the sharper turn-in.

Fastest lap was a 2:03.700 at the end of the day. This was my first time running the bypass ever - after 30+ days at T-hill! Freakin' nuts! It's like driving a stunt track. I swear the car leaves the ground for an instant.

Tony - the metal part of the camera mounting is pulling out of the plastic case after three years of track stuff. THere's more vibration in the picture being transmitted from the bumps, which may be why things seem more violent. It's more realistic in a way.

actually, youre right, you do end up getting narrow, but you can increase the corner speed for the first 1/3rd of the corner by going REAL deep, and trail brake into the turn, you end up mid track, and then start bleeding off speed by slowly getting torward the apex. it does work.

just watched it again. you got to get a cage in that thing and play around with SCCA racing!
you would have a ton of fun and have a bunch of guys right at your speed. (thats without changing much) finish off the race converison by taking off the weight and adding it back in with the finishing of your cage. You can get that cage finished off by someone that could make it pretty steet friendly.

2:03 without the hill is like a 2:05.xx without it. that would put you just behind the race BMW 2002 M3 we run with, and really close to a few other big hp cameros and mustangs.

good job. the car looks pretty fast now!

I'm torn right now between caging the car and going Spec Miata racing. Although after talking to a few folks, Spec Miata is sounding less and less like the cheap-racing promised land that some people make it out to be.

Dennis try this maybe and see how it works. It helped me in my car to go way deeper in the turn and carry much more speed though it. If you look at the light blue line, this is your line. You have to move to the inside, and finish braking around the red line. The line I take allows me to stay on the gas much longer. I am generally on the gas until a point where the folks on the insdie are done braking. Since it is a straight line into the turn, you can see about where I finish braking by the other redline. OK, OK the paint brush lines aren't that good, but you get the idea. I can generally make up a lot of ground in this turn even with very fast cars. It also gives me great momentum coming out to get by cars before going into 3. Like I said, it worked for me so maybe try it sometime.

Bob - last year I was running a version of that line. It's kind of evolved into the line you see now. I gotta get my data logging equipment up and running to get some sector times and find the definitive answer.
