It did 260rwhp/263 rwt. It also was running a bit rich,
the dyno operator said I was having some black smoke at high rpm.
I think the mixture was between 10-11 to 1.
So I think there might be a little bit more there if mixture was right and plugs, wires, cap and vacuum leaks were tidied up.
or maybe not.

83 would be CIS I think. So you would have a pretty rich mixture anyway. Those are great numbers.

The Euro 16 valve twin dist LH brain engine uses a ignition control box with a vacuum fitting to control timing advance the can fail or not be gettting vacuum . The two rotors in the two distributors are linked by a small rubber timing belt one might be mistimed. The throttle position switch may not be functioning correctly. The mass air sensor may be degraded and setting a lean mixture. The cobbled up exhaust can really kill the top end. But it should run pretty strong Mark A had an old Euro S 3 speed with headers many years ago that would run about 170 mph....

The vac line to the computer was unhooked when inspected - I reattached to the front of the manifold. I will read vac from it to test its response. The mass air could be an issue. There is a stmble at initial tip in at large throttle openings from a rest. The exhaust is getting the stink eye as we speak.
Still a great car. Very complete, well taken care of, and best of all, in one piece currently.

My assometer says open exhausts are good. A white S4 with GT cams at Frenzy would agree since I walked away from him in third from about 2-5000rpms. He said he had the pedal to the floor.
edited to add: I also have one of Porken's adjustable cam sporcket sets, but haven't played with tweaking them yet.

Suspension and Weight Removal
On my track shark, some of the mods I did were simple.
Exhaust
Headers
Weight (Pulled EVERYTHING Not needed) - By far the best mod you can do
Bilsteins
Electric Fans
Lets just say - my shark has a new found respect at the race track.

My 85 Euro S just had the engine rebuilt, but I'm also interested in getting a little more oomph. I would like to be pretty conservative and am wondering what sort of basic options I should look at without compromising reliability or the bank account.
The 928SP 304 Modular Crossover pipes (sans Cats) is the only thing I can think of.

Have you ever had it on a dyno to measure the A/F ratio throughout the rpm range? I have RRFPR's on mine along with a very free flowing exhaust and it just roars up to 6300 during a kickdown run before it jumps to the next gear. I've lightened mine w/o removing any luxury. I have also never had any smoke out the exhaust.

We installed one of our crossovers on an 85' euro and it responded very well. I don't have any dyno sheets as we are pulling out the 4.7 for a 6.1 right now but it really woke up the upper revs. The thing wanted to ignore the redline after the install, just kept pulling. I have a photo at the shop of it installed on the cast iron euro manifolds that I will post tomorrow.

It was on a dyno. I just spoke to the previous previous owner, and he said that the car always seemed "weak". I think its a few thinsg which I will trya nd chase down, the biggest is the cobbled together exhaust. Its supposed to be dual and there is basically a frankenstein addition of the cat to a hacked up exhaust.
I think I'll do the 32V 2 bolt headers and a X-over into a dual 2.5 and see how that goes.

Hey Bredan-
A local Detroiter has an 84 Euro - 5 speed. He had been complaining about it feeling weak. So at one of our gatherings a couple years back someone suggest we swap MAFs to see if that would have any affect. When we went to pull his out, we found a cardboard donut restricter plate on top of his MAF. Must have been there for federalization/emissions. Now he has screaming rocket. Almost forgot, He has headers and a catless exhaust. VERY FAST! I'd say faster than my GT.

custom exhaust and x pipe make a big difference, the S2 engine is nice. mine dosent have cast iron headers though, i think they were only on the earlier 'S2' models that had the single exhaust and smaller brakes, without antilock.
