Auto Trans sluggish....how to flush?
The 84S Auto is (sort of) running....
The passenger window is held up with a C-clamp.
No carpet (Padding is in place),
Interior panels--some out of the car.
Headlight motor out.
Rear wiper/spoiler off.
Front Spoiler off.
Put the Driver's seat back in with 2 fasteners (still haven't figured out what to do with the seats...replace, recover, or just get sheepskins).
((the good news is that it seems mechanically sound, runs fine, good brakes all around, engine is solid...if you note, just about everything is cosmetic.))
However, with winter fast approaching (and no garage), I had to move it to store it.
It has been sitting for a while (both here and at the POs). Engine seems fine--fired up after a couple of tries (this is after sitting for a month while I worked on the other cars). However, in moving it it is VERY sluggish on accelleration. I would guess that this is due to the trans fluid sitting so long.
If I can get a chance to work on it before the snowfall, I may try to clean out the old trans fluid--depending on the responses here.
So, opinions are being sought...
Better to: Leave the old fluid in until spring and change it as I get it on the road..... Or .... Change the fluid now?
If the consensus is change the fluid now, how best to change it?
Any type of chemical flush?
Get some new fluid...change old fluid to new, drive a bit, then re-change (change filter the first time or the second change?)
Just change it out and be done with it....?
Thanks!!
