Default Tie rod end boots

I couldn't find a part number in PET or 928 Specialists site. Both of my boots are split, but the tierods are fine. Are the tie rod end boots available sperately? What is involved in replacing them?

Not the rack boot, the rubber boot on the ball joint where the tie rod attaches to the spindle.

So you want just the boots around the ball studs? Those won't have P/Ns. I know 928I sells them for the upper ball joint. Might make some calls.

The lowed ball joint boots are available at the Audi dealer. I bought 2, 4 years ago. I can't recall the part number at the moment, but if you do a search on here you'll find it. They are an Audi part. I beleive it's a Audi 5000S part. As far as I know Porsche didn't sell it. Also, the uppers boots are different from the lower.

Imo, thanks I'll search.

Roxter, no problem.

Greggles, I'd rather not do the whole thing when all I need is the little rubber boot.

Upper/lower ball joint boots are 431.407.377A which is the number 928Intl and 928 Specialists have listed.

Boots are available seperately. Maybe $25 each or so. I got from 928Int'l IIRC. Requires loosening lock nut and tierod end. Count threads to maintain alignment. Unscrew completely from control arm. Side boot off the free end. Reverse process. It's a tight fit of rubber boot over rack. Each takes about 30 minutes. Your results may vary. Probably should align front end.

I replaced the upper and lower ball joints along with the tierod end boots with MB parts and they were cheep. I will check as see if I still have the part number.

I couldn't find them anywhere, but I was sold a bike tube repair kit and told to give it a go. Guess what - it worked!
