Dash lights up like a xmas tree
81 - 928- AT, 130k miles
Car running normally, shut it off and restarted.
Every warning light came on brighter that usual, and stayed on, all gauges read normally, no obvious problems , etc, voltmeter read around 14v, not out of range
Turned off , restarted, all lights back to normal dim glow, vm now reads in exact center of range, no obvious problems.
Is thsi time to pull cluster and clean up all gold fingered connections, or what?

You may consider the electrical half of the ignition key/switch ... this is a replacable wear item, which turns on all the dash icons, etc.
Sometimes, a few quick on/off key cycles will 'clean' the switch contacts.

I had a similar problem - and it was the harmonica clip pulled part way off the electronic control unit that is located on the left side of of the driver's foot well. (It's behind that squarish carpeted panel cover with the rubber footrest on it)

First thing I would do is to clean and make sure that the clamps are tight on battery terminals. I had a same problem on my Ford, spent half a year finding out the answer and changing parts. Then checked the battery...
