928 market update- Excellence

I like the fact that 88's are worth more than 89's!!! I'm not biased since I own one or anything! Hmm own a 928 for a long time AND make a profit.....unlikely, but would be very cool!

For what it's worth, John Dunkle asked for 928 market data on August 26, 2004 on behalf of Bruce Anderson. He asked people to be polite to Mr. Anderson. Do a search for 928 market update and it will pop up. I can't figure out how to drop the link in here. Sorry about that.

Just curious, when do most people receive their copy of Excellence? It is now a full week past when RDS928S got his and my copy has still not arrived. Is RDS just a lucky dog or am I late in the mailing cycle?

The issue of where these values come from has never been fully addressed or answered. Especially when it comes to the later cars, the GTs and GTSs. I doubt that enough of these cars are sold in any one year period to accurately publish a market price. I know for a fact that many GTSs have sold well above these prices and I also know the sales were not reported to any agency that might compile the numbers.
I don't envy Bruce's job on this one and again this year, he is not even close to accurate. I think the values are nothing more than SWAG and nobody should put much stock in them, unless of course you're a buyer or selling an 87 or 88 model.
......and show me that 92 model please. Must have missed that one...

I missed that, does anyone remember seeing or contributing to it.

He really did contact me once but it was many months ago. Nice guy...trying to be very objective. Gets prices/values from all over.

There was a full run of 92 GTS models (first year of GTS), however because the price had gotten so high, and the North American dealers still had not sold thier 1991's, Porsche did not send any more 928's across the pond until the following year. This makes the 93 seem like the first year of the GTS, but it was not.
There is a couple 92 GTS that have made it over from Europe.

What I find truly amazing about these numbers, if their real, that you could have invested $6500 on a '78 four years ago and could have made $4000 profit on it!
That's better that the stock market let alone the crummy banks, plus you get to drive your money around while it's growing! How do you beat that?
