Disregarding the humor - it does worry me that a functional key can be cut from a photograph. I'm thinking that a kill switch or three is going on the ToDo list.

The guy who runs the UK list Valet Parked his SE at Heathrow airport. It was written off and a long battle ensued with various companies and insurers. It's taken him four years to find another SE as there were only 42 ever built.

In other words, it was stolen and never recovered?

No - the valet parking guy managed to drive into a concrete wall in the carpark with it at about 40mph. Valet broke 3 or 4 ribs IIRC.

Edit - The straights in that car park are about 70 yds long!

Personally, I'm not too worried about it. The odds of anyone ever getting a clear pic of my key are slim to none... no change of behavior required on my part. My key is always in the ignition, in my pocket, or in the house where casual visitors aren't going to run across it. When it's transitioning between these three states, it would be just about impossible to get a clear enough pic of it to make a key, IMHO.

I have an immoblizer installed. Without the transponder, the key is useless, even if you could get a picture of it while stored next to the family jewels.

I am more than paranoid about non-928 owners doing any time in my driver's seat for any reason; to pull it into a shop or anything. Not that I have a low mile GTS, but all of us have so much time, sweat and life invested in our 928s. And I can see some guy putting it in reverse instead of first!
I just got the windows tinted this week, took the whole day off to get it done, and was able to be right there while they did the job. It's always stressful having to get anything done by a shop, but nothing broken/damaged, and they did a great job too. 50% on the front windows and 35% on the hatch and rear quarters. If anyone in MA needs a good tint place that has done a 928 (one so far), send me a pm.

Carl, I understand your apprehension;

Since I do all my own work (and then some) I rarely let my cars out of my sight, but I once had my 89GT detailed by a local chump. I thought I knew the guy well... I dropped the car off, told him to call when it was done. 2 hours later he pulls into my driveway with it, some 10 miles from his place. He said he always wanted to drive a Porsche. Guess what? He walked the hell home. Last Porsche he'll ever detail.
