HOMAGE TO DREMEL
I've worked on cars since I got my first Mini-Cooper, in the mid-sixties; but somehow never used or owned a Dremel. Eventually, having read so many Rennlist references to this magic tool, my curiosity overcame me, and, last weekend, I went out and bought one.
Suddenly, I feel more like a dentist than a mechanic, and every job seems to require the attention of this clever, precision device. Goodbye chisels and hacksaws and files - hello, Dremel!

Yes, Yes.... - I bought the little cordless Dremel just for my shark. Particularly for cleaning contacts and grounds in hard-to-reach places, I think its a great tool. If any one has ideas for using the Dremel on a shark beyond cleaning electrical surfaces, I'd like to hear about it.

Michael some of that Joy disappears when you must buy replacement cutters, wheels !
The other day a friend and I was having coffee and he went into a 10 min. rant about the cost of gas! I just smiled and asked him how he felt about the $80.00 a gal. coffee he was drinking (Starbucks). Got-A-Love it

I just got the thing and I'm not sure what it does, but it looks great in my garage, and I think I can make stuff with it!

Dremel. Excellent for cutting down them TALL Porsche shifters.
First thing I did with the Dremel.
Lost 1 cutting disc when it jammed on the shifter. Split in half.
Was a good idea to have cardboard box around the shifter while cutting.

Yes, the Dremel is awesome. My first project was cutting the speakers out of the frames. I cut the entire back out so all that was left was the front frame with the proper mounting holes. I attached the new speakers to the front mounts of the old speakers then put them in. Still looks factory with a bunch more punch!
Second project was the peep hole in the fender for the clutch master replacement. Made it very easy, and was really nice when I had to replace the clutch pipes a month later because they were fused to the flex hose.

Make sure you wear safety glasses when using a Dremel; those things turn upwards of 30,000 rpm. If one of those little grinding wheels/bits comes apart at that speed....it can get ugly.
Don't try using regular drill bits in one either- Dremel's are reverse rotation on purpose.
