I would consider Aero mirrors & maybe a color matched S4 wing like Keiths!
A thought for all the repaints out there....especially the big $$$ ones....is everyone going to use a bra or clearbra to protect the paint after all that expense!

You could get classic car insurance which insures the car for a "stated" value! The downside is they limit your mileage, typically 2500 per year, and they check it every year too!

I have a clear bra for just the bumper and aero mirrors, after two track days and a 1,000 mile road trip I found I wanted to see if I could protect the paint a bit. Should be fitted before the trip to Sharktoberfest, would have had it put on earlier but it took forever to order.

My recent paint here in the heart of SoCal was 1800 without materials. This was just for Base coat and clear coats. I had done 9 months of work on the car leading up to this including stripping the paint down to metal, metal prep, body work, body customization and filling, and two different coats of primer and 600 wet sanding the entire car. Even then, the materials alone were over 1k. For this most recent color stage, the materials were 600. That was just with PPG.

i love what you have done to your '87 S4... I admire that car (knock on wood, looks like it just rooled out of Stuttgart). I will give you the rundown plus pics as soon as i pick it up this friday. As far as my plans, I will be adding the clear bra in a couple of weeks (the dealer told me that i need to bring the car back in a couple since the black color shrinks further and they will need to further buff it and sand it at that point). I do want to protect my investment. Anyways, Christmas time, I will be working on replacing all the carpet with a new set, redying ALL the leather and Vinyl (including doors, dash, etc). I plan to have it looking woohoo by new year

When I was pricing paint jobs, the disassembly and reassembly was the biggest factor.
If you gave them the car prepped, stripped down, and ready to go, it was pretty cheap.
But if they have to pull the bumpers, glass, mirrors, etc, then it is a lot of work on a
car they may not be familiar with. So you can save a LOT of money if you take the
car apart yourself first...

When we were at the Buttonwillow race track, I spoke to a guy who had a clear bra put onto his GT3. He said it was $1200 adn works well. However, after a while the edges of the material will become more noticeable

Good Point on the clear bra. I actually stripped my 78 down to metal and now don't have the rippled affect on the lower sections. I'm trying to figure out a good way to protect them.
