Default Anyone want to share on 32V spring options?

I know phil threshie has some valve springs for the 32V. About 450. Supposed to be high tension.

Anyone else out there know about these or other options?

No, but would be interested to hear about them... (for 85 32V rebuild/buildup)

Don't know the spec vs. what Phil was selling.
You going with a cam more radical than a GT for a boosted engine? Doesn't seem necessary.

FWIW, I have a modified GT camset (about .012"-.018" over in lift/ tad more dur) in my old gal w/968 valves and ported heads - just used plain 'ol GT springs and fresh late model lifters (IIRC, better design than earlier stuff).... runs just fine and less wear headaches than w/higher tensions...

does depend on how hard you'll be revving too - but you knew that b.... on my old gal it's just an AT street car, so no super high revs will be encountered (unless it's when my trans blows) and it seems to run just fine WFO on the dyno for way longer than I'd get to drive on the street/local tracks....

IIRC, mark a (from forum mag article) just uses 968 springs, but he revs the crap out of that thing w/solid lifters and 2x the cam mods I'm running too.... you gonna start putting that thing together for sharktoberfest??? (06?)

Well, It looks like my ebay sale will go through with all intents and purposes haveing my 78 motor that I built over a 6 months period with blood sweat and tears going to a gentleman in the Northern CA area. So that leaves me with a painted car (78) that will get the 89 5.0 that I have all the parts assembled for.

I have the 75k mile springs that cam out of that engine, and they "look" in good shape, though with ARP rod bolts, anf forged early 928 rods, and supercharger, I was hoping to make it safe to 7k (crank drill, etc) I would make the fuel start cutting at about 6800.

I'm almost positive I'm comming to 928intl in October, but I was hoping to drive a 928 there. Doesn't seem too possible from here.

The reason I ask about springs is that I have the 85/86 cams here that were slated for the GTS crank engine build (for the 89) and now that mark K has posted his results, I was going to put them in this engine to reduce the effective compression a bit (I am using ceramic coated pistons in this motor, stock compression)

The 968 springs seem like a good bet, but I would want to make sure there are no bind issues (i.e., same free length as the S4 ones, etc, compressed height.

IIRC, I could've used either, so I don't think it's a big issue, but I'd ck w/an engine builder like greg or head builder like garrity/dave/devek/etc to be safe....

Joseph and I have been using 944 105 907 01 (about $12 ea) This was used on the 944S2. I'm not sure how the spring differs from the 968 but it is less than 1/2 the price and works well with my 11mm lift cams.

Thanks for the info Mark. Did you have to change the retainers or valve locks at all Mark? You may have changed them for other purposes - but for the use of the springs?

If you haven't had any issues with the springs in your race use I'm sure we are all fine here.

.
I think we used base washers from the 85-86 heads.

Okay - great.

Can you get those springs at the cost you mentioned through your sources?

I'm still trying to figure out if there is something else needed for the extra 1mm lift of the 85/86 cams.

How do the original S4 springs compare in price to these 944S2 springs that you mention? Are GT springs a different part number?

Since the GT cam did not require a differnet valve spring I'd say the stock S4 springs should be sufficient but if you want the higher rate 944 spring I'd be happy to get them for you.

Thanks Mark. I don't seem them in your online store, the S4 ones that is. Is there a price difference (S4/944S2)?

Thanks again.
