Direction of Flow THrough Heater Control Valve
I've searched through archives and could not find the answer. I am getting ready to do a manifold refinish and under manifold clean up. While I'm in there, I'm going to change my heater flow control valve. The replacement is directional. Was wonder how the water flows - does it go from block to the heater core - or does it flow from heater core into the block?
Thanks,
Glen

IIRC, the flow is from the engine (head) into the core: The valve is installed so that the direction of flow 'pushes' the valve disc against its sealing face when closed - more like a check valve, for while it will still operate if installed bassackwards, it will not seal when closed.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Print this out then install your heater valve.
N!
PS: See that rubber tube that comes out of the valve on the right side? It's about 4 inches long. Replace it while you are in there....
