Default RELAYS are different for L-Jets

The L-Jet 928s have different relays then the S4 and later 928s ... for these cars the horn relay doesn't substitute for the AFC (Fuel Injection) nor the fuel pump!!

Relay part number soup for these cars:

Fuel Pump: 928.615.113.01
Fuel injection: 928.615.119.00
Horn: 141.951.253B

>> of all things, the intensive washer relay is 928.615.113.01 so it should swap for the fuel pump. How many of you know if your intensive washer works???

Check your specs for relay numbers (or www.928gt.com)

thanks to everyone who took time to respond.
as suggested i bypassed the fuel pump with a jumper wire, turned the key and fired it up.
i ordered a new fuel pump relay, i hope thats the problem and not something that activates the relay and is harder to track down. when its installed ill update thread.

Has the same problem on my 1981 and it parked it for a month!
Finally, I decided to hot wire it... and after I got all that set up (literally) I pulled off the hot wire and it now just works fine - meaning I did nothing but shake up something that got it working. That has happened also with the lights.
I think the problem is BEHIND the fuse box - as whenever I have shaken it up while undertaking hot wiring to whatever isn't work, then it started to work!
Not exactly technical and others might really protest. But I'd but the wooden cover over the fuse box and hit it a few times hard with the palm of your hand - after cleaning off (steel wool) the relay connectors and careful the fuse holder (hate those old style fuses!)
Anyway, that seems to be working for me - but I am also really getting tired of these come and go electrical gremlins. To this day, not one electrical problem has ever been cured on any of my 928s by "checking the relays, fuses and ground contacts" - though that seem universal advise.
Just my comment, mostly to point out that you are not alone and these challenges are not rare. It is the worst part of early 928s. A real pain.

I'm no guru, maybe that is why my theory is to start at the beginning; I don't know where else you would start if you had a problem that didn't resond. Someone here has a thread w/pics of complete removal and cleaning of the relay panel. That is radical and I wouldn't want to do it, depends on the problem.

Steve, maybe you are referring to this. Not so radical IMHO, took less than half a day to refresh ALL connections. One thing worth mentioning here.... In search of a fuse/relay panel to cannibalize for parts, I pawed through a large pile of panels, early and late style. One thing that almost all of them had in common, was that most of them had burned insulation on at least some of the wires on the backside. I have been careful not to read too much into that, as all of the cars involved were junked. All the same, I think that anyone having recurring electrical weirdness ought to at least have a look at the back side to check for melted insulation.

FWIW my car has had a minimum of electrical issues, all traceable to issues outside the panel. For me it was worth the piece of mind to know that the panel itself is good.

Whoops... thanks for the clarification...
