Default wiring help

Trying to Dx a non-op gauge cluster...

Need to know 'where' on the car chasis the VS1 grounding block is located. Appears all dash grounds go thru this block. My pdf CD isn't helping.

There is a ground area in back of the dash - towards the lower section above your left knee.

Was I right?

On the left side there are some wierd splices that look original on the cluster loom. My gauage panel originally on the 78 would only work "Sometimes" and would almost "ramp up" during the warmup process.

B;

I found what appears to be the grounds for the pod; attached to the bottom of the st. column housing. Though, it doesn't match the wiring diagram in # of wires. My charts for an 86 show what they call VS1 ground point, that is what I was hoping to find.

I feel at this point I am tracking a few different issues:
a) no gauge functions, short of the low volt. red light, (seperate exciter circuit) and
b) turn signal dilemma...the relay is squeeling like a pig with the green indicator light on faintly until the turn signal or flashers are operated then relay squeeling stops and faint green dash light acts normally.

Regarding a. I'm clueless, haven't got to that one as of yet, but b. is kickin' my ***. I've verified TS relay operation using multiple relays, verified flasher **** on pod with a spare, verified the wiring is operable via many ohm/volt test, traced behind fuse panel and all wires to TS relay are (were) OK.
I've also swapped central warning brains and gauge pods to now avail, same spiel.

This is not my car any longer so I can't say @#$%^& and drive it, I need it fixed, yesterday.

Hmm. Grounding point near the BODY above your left knee as your driving. Possibly connexted to the base of the A pillar or under the "cross-car" brace at the base of the windshield.
