GT cams needed.
anyone knowing of a set of GT cams that are not powering a 928 right now, let me know. I maybe interested in buying a set very quickly to stickin the Holbert car. I have only 2 weeks before a championship points event with SCCA.
thanks,
Mark

So you are not going to go with the 85 model cams? I thought that was already determined?
Cheers Greg
p.s.
Sold my GT cams a few months ago to a guy on the list doing a stroker, he might be lurking here, who knows.

I will go that way, but the shop is determining if they can do it. another guy may be able to do it too. Lots of "ifs". Im going to run this race and i have to make sure i have all bases covered. If i found GT cams now, i would just put them in and be done with it. however, the 85 cams solution looks cheaper and can work. as long as the "simple" (ha ha) modification to the driver side exhaust cam can be done! it aint as simple as most thought. how do you put a thrust bearing surface on a cam? bolt on? you cant really weld the cam . its a tough question. someone has to get creative to do it. Im thinking a big bolt on coupler that has one end machined like the thrust bearing surface.

using new chains of course. think i found why the driver side broke more teeth. tensioner was kind of jammed up and almost fixed at a particular lenght. interally a little press on cap to hold the little spring in place ,was ajar. put it back in position and recrimped its connection. like new.
there were too options. race chains or stock chains. all that were in stock were race chains, so what the heck, i think im racing , so they should be arriving soon.
thanks!

You are much better to braze on a thrust surface, I believe. It will hold just fine Safety Silv 45 should do the trick nicely. You don't need too much, just clean, clean, clean.
