Jeez, what an ordeal. Fabricator guy goes on vacation, and the monkeys left to mind the store were confused.

Somehow the price doubled per piece, with no paperwork left by vacation guy. Plus they made more than I asked for, and made me pay for them!

Anyhu, at least the (laser cut) aluminum cap worked. The lip it created gives the impression of the headlamp sitting in the cover, and the face is defect free. I think that masking off the top 1/2" and painting the lower part body color would complete the illusion.

dude you need to get your money back when the other guy returns. 100% price hike == unacceptable.

The final measurements are very close to the glass lense I think. 8 1/4" at the face, 8 3/4" at the base (fender opening is 9"), and 1 1/4" tall.
...

Carl,

Those photo stickers would look great! Inside or outside?
...

Heinrich,

I think vacation guy underpriced it. I would have liked to have had a better idea of the costs from the start though. They said they might be able to refund me, after he gets back. Then maybe I'll actually make a few bucks to cover the cost of the form, etc.
...

Now I just have to trim them, and make mounting brackets.

Ken I'd be very interested in a sunroof panel of the same design, that would fit up into the roof and could be clamped-in neatly after perhaps cutting the exterior panel's flat surface out, so that the sunroof could still be made to function as always, just now made of a steel frame and plastic flat part.

They are meant to be applied to the outside. They were photographed in 1:1 and are being printed in 1:1 scale - so I expect a perfect illusion.

Heinrich,

My plan is to make the sunroof panel the same way, with formed sides to fit in the sunroof drain 'gulleys', but no skirt. The way I read your plan, I don't know if it would keep the rain out?
...

I feel a little better now that I looked again at Spektr Products (Catalog | Headlight Covers & Lenses) pricing for their plastic headlight covers. Most cost $120, and the 924/944 (GT) delete cover is $170!

I grew up in Suburbia, and went to private schools. Does what you said mean yes?

The full-sized outdoor vinyl full-color stickers arrived today.

I have 10 of them.

Maybe I'm slow here, but whats the purpose of a sticker to stick to something that already looks like the sticker, and also is infact a real version of what the sticker is portraying?

If I understand you correctly, you want to know why he would put a sticker on a headlight?

If that is the question, the plan is to put the sticker track cars, that have the headlights deleted.

So you can look like you have a headlight, but in reality, have just a plastic cover.

I think he was showing the sticker next to a real headlight, to show how close it looks
to the real thing...
