Default 89+ Instruments in 87 928S4

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has attempted to update his 87-88 928S4 with 89+ instruments. I have been toying with this idea for a while. I think i got the main parts to be changed:

instruments
stalks
oil pressure sender, water temp sender, fuel pressure sender
acknowledgement buttons
dash harness

I wonder if anyone has been successful at this mod.

Sincerely,
Khaled

These cars sell at give-away prices. Why not just buy a nice 89'-91' and sell the 87?

I'm sure its possible....but like borland says....you would probably be better off selling your 87 and buying an 89....I'm sure it would be very expensive to convert! Think thousands & thousands

Default True... but

Guys,

thanks for the reply. I have to agree with you all about the cost, but then again i will disagree a bit concerning selling my car. I have already invested a bit in my car in $$$ to get it to run like new (almost) and now with the new paint and interior to look like new too. I will never be able to get anything compared to my investment, and moving to a new car might mean that i will have to make a new investment in time and money which i am not willing at this time to do. Any 928 no matter what by now needs some rehab considering the age of the cars. Hence my update vs. another car theory.

Sincerely,
Khaled

If you used the same investment reasoning as your using for "not buying a later model car, then you wouldn't consider the instrument cluster upgrade.

If it gives you pleasure, then go for it. You'll likely waste the time and money in other ways. I sure do.
