The weather has finally cooled and the rain stopped. I took Kryppie outside the workshop and put her up on 4 each 24 inch/12 ton truck stands.
Applied 2 gallons of straight grease cutter liquid (commercial degreaser) using a large wallpaper hangers brush. Scrubbed it in nicely. Sang songs like "Rub a dub dub, two gay sailors in a tub", etc.
By that time I was covered in grease and gunk.
Took my clothes off down to my Spongeboy Squarepants boxer shorts. Flexed my abs a bit.
Started up the pressure washer.
Fired up Kryptonite and set her to a nice idle using a brick on the pedal.
Spent the next hour (65 minutes by my watch) blasting off 25+ years of grease, oil, grime, dirt and assorted dead creatures under the hood and under the body, wheel wells, etc.
Blasting the engine was fun, especially when the fans kicked in and I got more wet.
Let everything drip a bit; turned off the engine.
Applied 2 gallons of "Simple Green" full strength cleaner to everything that didn't look clean. Instead of the lower pressure nozzle, I used the fan-shaped 3000 psi nozzle.
Blasted off the rotted underhood heat sheld using the cutting nozzle. Interestingly, the material disintigrates into a powder-like black sludge. The adhesive from hell backing remained in place in places (more on that next).
The adhesive from hell which is part of the hood heat shield mat finally yielded to a nylon bristle brush and turpentine followed by more blasting with the 3000 psi wedge.
The phone dials look like new, except where one evidently got dinged on a curb. The engine is clean and I can actually see things inside the engine compartment now.
I started her up again and ran for awhile -- which was interesting since I forgot to remove the duct tape from the various TB breather holes, oil breather, and a couple of other places. I did remember to remove the large piece of plastic made from a tupperware top that I taped over the air intake.
The ground underneath Kryptonite is absolutely black. I suspect it is a hazardous waste site -- although nothing like the glow in the dark areas we have over at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where even the deer in the forest are flourescent.
Next, on to rebuilding the clutch master cylinder -- now where's my Dremel tool?
Did I mention that I wrapped the steering wheel last week and it looks like new. I'll do pictures soon.
Cheers!

Glad to see your getting into it now Dave. I gotta clean up my 81' tomorrow and take some good pics so I can put it on E-Bay. With gas prices the way they are it is probably not the best time to be selling a car, but the wife is starting to loose paitence. She can't see any reason to own two 928's. Maybe I should put her on E-Bay and keep the 81'!
