Default Getting a make over

Just thought I would write a quick update on my resto progress. I now have my 928GT in Vancouver Canada and its on its second week of paint work. The door edges and door sills were painted today and I should have the body painted by tomorrow. Here are a few pics.

You put the steering wheel on the wrong side when you put the interior back together! :-)
I am envious. My car is clean but would love to make it perfect. Good luck with the rest.
Are you shooting it yourself?

Yah the wife has almost had enough of the car but I keep telling her that there's light at the end of the tunnel, I'm not sure she believes me anymore. I hope the finished results will be worth the blood sweat and tears. I am not actually doing the body work or painting myself but have found a very competent Polish guy who is.

Do the body side mouldings have a screw with a nut on the inside of the body or is it a pushed on clip?
Thanks
Carl

A round hole with a pushed in clip. A pain in the *** if you ask me. Porsche could have done the stick on and all of us "anti-rub strip" would have just had to do some buffing and not a total repaint.

Hi Carl

the door side moldings have a screw on one side and a clip on the other, as for the other moldings (the ones on the front fender and rear quarters) they just have the clips.

Cheers

Hi All
sorry to change the subject but I was wondering how others felt about the over-all build quality of our cars. I'm simply asking how you feel about the material quality and attention to detail. For instance I love the way Porsche has undercoated our cars they have gone the extra mile and from what I have seen in this department the cars are well protected ( my car was kept out doors in close proximity to the sea in HK and the body and underside are rust free). On the subject of the interiors I have mixed feelings. I feel the vinyl is of a good quality but the plastic, underlinings, fiberboard and foams used are of a poor quality. I am also not happy with all the cheap clips and the way many of the wire looms are protected (poor shielding). I have done many repairs on my car during my restoration and for a car with only 80000km I feel it just hasn't held up as well as I would expect from a car that cost between 75000-85000USD new.

P.S. don't get me wrong I love my car, but all I'm trying to say is that some aspects of the build quality are lacking.

WOW - this is nice!

Are you lucky this is a RHD - otherwise someone here would come to your house and ****** it sooner or later...
