Because of the track, this may well make Camille look like Ivan. I wish all in the vicinity of New Orleans the best. I've heard some doomsday-like scenarios. God bless all of you out there. Take someone with you if you have room. We'll be thinking of all people in harm's way. Protect the sleds if you can, but bail now if you get the opportunity. Be safe, George.

Thanks guys. With judicous use of backroads I'm in Baton Rouge in just over 4 hours. Trip usually takes 1 hour. If I stayed on the evacuation route I'm guessing it could have been midnight tonight before I got to my mothers house.

I'm worried about the people that didn't use a map and followed the state's recommended plan.

The Porsche had to stay back and is in the garage. The garage is braced from the inside with as much wood material as I could find. It feels pretty strong but then again the garage faces South and is 1-2 miles north of the lake. Storm surge in the lake could be as high as 20 feet. My house is 6 feet above the lake so you do the math. Hope they're just trying to scare us.

Hopefully Abby will post somtime tonight. His path will take significant time to traverse although he left about 8 hours before me.

Galveston in 1900 was pretty bad. Fortunately, we get more advance warning now than they did then.

If any of the Louisiana contingent are still online and headed west, call me at 713.224.1747 if you get to Houston and still don't have a dry place to stay. I'm half a mile off I-10 just west of downtown.
