T his may be overkill but try to find a parking garage or space in/attached to a hospital. It is more likely to be stronger and resistant to lateral forces.

Took the 928 to a parking garage and put it along the biggest wall, right in th middle on the 5th floor. And covered it.
If something happens to it there, I have way bigger issues than my Shark!
I'll be pulling outta here at 4am.
Thanks to all of you keeping us in your thoughts!

If you see a Silver Odyssey with a white LSU sticker on the back playing cartoons on the DVD wave 'cause it's the trash talking Fantasy Football playing wife of mine.

Will do, and thanks for the generous offers. Let her know if a Black Armada with a Northpark Nissan plate and the DVD playing wave at her, it was us..

Holy cow, that storm if freakin strong! I awoke this morning to NOAA predicting, at least, 175 mph sustained winds when it hits. I have never seen a hurricane with winds that strong. I think New Orleans will suffer extreme damages, like the US has never seen before, from wind and storm driven surf. This one will make Andrew look anemic in comparison.
Abby and the other people of New Orleans please stay safe and if you are not out of there yet....GET OUT NOW!!!!
I have been through many direct hits from hurricanes in the last decade but nothing like this. When Ivan hit, it looked as if a nuclear bomb was detonated off our coast. This one will look as if multiple bombs were set-off. I can't image any place in New Orleans will be safe. The people that are going to the Superdome for shelter should be bussed out of harms way. I just can't image that place will weather this storm without colapsing like many of our shelters suffered from a catagory three storm. However, this one is so much stronger than Ivan it's disturbing.
I don't think I'll sleep very well tonight because that storm could shift and really hammer us too. Anyway, I think I'll start clearing my lawn furniture and other items that are outside....just in case.

I echo what Nowak says. This thing is like NOTHING I have ever seen in my 20 years on the Gulf Coase....it is probably more like EVERYTHING I have seen rolled up into one!
P'cola is about 200 miles from N.O. - IF (BIG IF!) it stays on the current track - they are calling for 14-16 hours of 60-80 MPH winds for us tomorrow! Mobile bay (150 mi from NO) is having RECORD storm surges forecast.
A slight wobble of a couple degrees to the NE will be BAD BAD BAD for us.
Shark is in the garage - poised and ready to act as a Chevron Tanker for the generator (as she did during Ivan and Dennis). The 951 is covered in the driveway jammed in between the Turd and my truck.
Voluntary & mandatory Evacs have been announced for all south if I-10 thru Miss & ALA. DON'T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY! Nowak is NOT being exagerative in his descriptions of looking like a nuclear bomb aftermath when Ivan came thru!
GOD SPEED to all in the path!

Now THIS is scary - here's a portion of an experts summary from the weather underground (wunderground.com)
"The wave heights within 20 miles of the northeast eyewall will attain 60-70 feet which will ride atop the 25 foot storm surge itself."
Also - I read yesterday, a 2-year old article written by the Red Cross - it stated that if a CAT 4 hit N.O. head on, 100,000 deaths could occur!

It's getting scarier by the minute!
My good friend and his wife just caught the last flight out of NO - all flights in and out of NO have now been suspended. They'll be here around 4:30 today.
I've stocked up the liquor cabinet - I have a feeling they'll need it!
