I thought the same thing about the vette, do you pass fast as possible or what? You can see from the begining of the video how much he spins the car in the corner, looks like someone needs to learn not to go to WOT half way though a turn in a car like that!

And you wonder how your videos got over 500 hits so fast. At this rate I'm sure they will be asking for more of them. Awesome video Mark. Keep 'em coming.

Noticed a few things. first of all, both of those videos are about 5 years old. Marks car is much faster now. the Las Vegas video was bob Taylor in the Vet, a guy thats usually only a second or so faster than me, and now he still runs the same car and Mark is about 3-4 secconds faster than him.

In the porsche race at Road America, did you notice a car that looked like a GT1 porsche?? its a scaled down version of one, powered by a 911 engine. I raced him at Laguna in 2002-3 at the PCA race with Anderson, Joe Fan, and Don Hanson there. this car was pretty fast, definitely handled realy well, but i was able to beat him. got some interesting pictures next to him on the track. it really looked like the Lemans winning GT1 porsche, but smaller (its the blue, purple GTP labled car that anderson gets around after the carocel at Road America)

I hadnt watched that video in a while and was interesting to see andersons car then vs it now. thats when he had the old 2.2 :1 rear end too!

Both hits at Las Vegas were from a Vette. It's always nerve racking when you are near someone that does not have good command of their car. I usually try to look for thier weekness and take advantage of it. In the case that I got "T" boned I knew I was in for trouble early on but I was already commited to pass and there was no turning back. In retrospect I should held back and been more patient.

Yea, if you would have keep back you would have seen the hit on someone else compared to you. With the way he was driving the question is not "if" was going to lose control but "when" it would happen. When I saw the video all I keep thinking was WOW, you really handled BOTH hits VERY well, just glad after the hits you are still fine.

I still have the TV broadcast clip of that (those) hits! even the announcer said there was nothing you could do. You were just along for the ride! what a bummer! I guess if you are going to get hit, thats the way. Lots of tv coverage, and good commentary to boot! but twice in one race, that was almost funny.
I think you have some of the best action footage of all of the Speedvision /speed GT shows.
1. those two we all saw here agian
2. hitting galati in the audi RS6 (punting him, rightfully!)at sears and passing him
3. getting hit by the vet at sears
4. getttin hit at laguna during your first top 10
5. running over all of the turn markers after a big off at laguna hitting the oil.
im sure there is a few more too, but for only being a partial season runner, you got some great coverage!!
(and of course the Derek Daly bashing of the 928 at sears, but then he made it up to us both at laguna and you at lime rock , mid ohio and Road America)

as they say, Good stuff!

You make a good point. If you'll notice Mark didn't over-react. He just _calmly_ got the car back under control and got back in the race (after the first hit). I couldn't even tell from the audio that Mark said "anything".

Mark's thoughts as he was hit the first time:
"...(thud)...hhmm...it appears as though I was struck from behind...hhmm...ok, no problem, I'll just get back in the race..."

....while some of us would have had these thoughts:
"...(thud)....WHAT THE ##@!.....(turn head around, point finger, think of ways of revenge)...Crap, I wonder how much damage he did!....####! Well, ####, I'm outta the race now...."

Mark is too cool...a great characteristic of a great driver.

Thank you. It is the first reaction for most of us to over react and I did plenty of that in the beginning. The most common error is when someone drops a wheel or 2 in the dirt on the outside of a corner. Our instinct is to quickly get the car back on track and that's when most people get in trouble. As a much better driver once told me " the dirt is just part of the track with less grip and can be used to your advantage". I probably use it way more than most but I also have the advantage of being in a 928.
