Mine was 3200 pounds last year as-raced (with me in it and a tank of gas)
Should be quite a bit better next time.

I am also in NJ. I normally have Eurotire in Fairfield perform those functions on my 78 SC. I just purchased a set of Koni adjustables on ebay and will need them installed on my 86 S. The car still has the original Boge's with one leaking oil.

Thanks Rich
Rich,

Who else but Chris at Eurotire. They are the best around hands down. Chris set the car up perfectly and it feels like new. They have been doing Porsche's for years and do great work. Price is relative so long as it is done perfectly .

My '91 was 3536 with a full tank and no driver at last corner balance.

So with another $50 of gas in the tank they weigh about the same.

Yeah. You ain't kiddin'. Took $50 bucks to fill up the 4-banger Audi TT this evening.

You known what's funny though? CarChick's Z06 got 27.5 mpg driving through NY with the cruise locked at 73. (The SBC lump is turning like 5 rpm at that speed )

How much weight can you reduce by removing things like:

Air conditioning
Rear seats
assorted electric motors
?

I have wondered how easy it would be to convert eletric windows to manual roll-up. Just out of curiosity of course.

It would be cool for someone to start an official weight savings thread where people could add their scale-verified weights of various items. Kinda like the OT random picture thread where you do not post unless you have weighed something.

I've been toying with the idea of yanking my bumpers too. Mark's post aint exactly helping me to change my mind.

Kibbort is an enabler.

I want to hit 3000lbs with my tail in the driver seat, the bumpers would get me about halfway there.

"Air conditioning"

If you yank the entire A/C system you'll save about 50lbs. If you just yank the easy to get to stuff(compressor, lines, condensor) like i did, probably about 40lbs i guess.

I put my car on the scale at Orlando International Airport one day, and it said 3247. This is an '85 with a Borla exhaust. I suspect the scale is about 50-100 pounds low.

N!

Yanking the bumpers on a street car isn't the safest way to drop weight.
The rear bumper is only equal to 4 gallons of gasoline.

So with that beautiful GTS she still likes the Z06 for long drives? Didn't realize they get such good gas mileage. You don't find you feel fatigued after long drives in the Z06 compared to the GTS? Was never a big vette fan myself although the Z06 is relatively quick.

"Yanking the bumpers on a street car isn't the safest way to drop weight."

I didn't think so either...but if Kibbort did it...

"The rear bumper is only equal to 4 gallons of gasoline."

when you're 150lbs from your goal, and you've already yanked the 'easy' stuff....another 30lbs is a lot(specially when the front bumper is another 30 still)!
