I wonder, if these guys know that blue lights are illegal on vehicles in California - except for law enforcement vehicles.

You can put lights shining down from the car legally, so long as the light source is not visible from the outside. The installation shown in their pictures wouldn't cut it, since the light source is in plain sight. Tuck them up inside the frame rails and you'd be OK I guess. That is, if you really want the ground under the car to be lit up while you drive.

Isn't the car itself enough of an eye catcher? Who are you gonna impress or attract with the ground lights? With my luck, it's black-and-white attention. They may not cite you for the lights, but once you're in their sights, they just rattle on down through a long list until they find one or twelve that they think they can get to stick. I'm getting too conservative in my old age I guess. I look for ways to make the car less conspicuous ratherr than adding bling or flash.

Dr. Bob, we should start a club. That's the primary reason I don't have a RMB:
to not wave a flag at the bears. Around here it is usually a Mustang that screams: "Here I am ! Write me up!". Another one is the front license plate. Without it another excuse exists for a stop to snoop. And I think another one is tinted glass which seems to just make bears curious. Can't figure out why anyone would want to attract a hungry bear's attention.

I have RMB, tinted windows, and no front license plate. One ticket in the last 6 years.

I have no comment. Well, actually, I do have a comment but I won't repeat it here. No it is not vulgar. Think about it for awhile.

Come to think about this, you do surprise me when I have ridden with you. And until recently, you didn't have a V-1. How you did it is a mystery to me.

For everyone else, Nicole likes to tear up the pavement on some local freeways.
She must have karmic blessings or something.

Something like this with diffusers to spread the light around more might be just the ticket for mounting on the bottom edge of the door, activated by the interior lights so you can see where you're stepping when you get out!

Just a little comment on tickets in the Porsche...

A friend of mine, who had a 993, before I ever got my 928, told me that
back when he had a tricked out "ricey" RX-7, he got pulled over all the time.
And me, with my ricey, flared, 280Z, also got pulled over all the time.
But once he got his porsche, he did not get pulled over anymore.
His theory was that the cops see a riced out car, or a loud mustang,
and they assume it's kids out making trouble. Street racing, etc...
So the bears go hassle them. But they see porsche owners
as more responsible, well-to-do members of society, and
tend to leave them alone. They assume a certain amount
of responsibiltiy, that they do not see with your average
mustang or ricer driver. And once I got my 928, I noticed
the same thing. I only got pulled over 1-2 times in the 8-9
years of owning my 928. But got pulled over almost every
weekend in my more ricey street racers. Just based on
looks. I still drove the same in both kinds of cars...

BC Davis, there is some truth to what you say in some geographical areas. Definitely not in Hawaii though.

It is a fact that red cars receive more citations than other colors as a general rule. Nicole's car is grey and sedate and.....well, "banker's grey" to be honest. It is not irritating and it is not likely to trigger jealousy so much as a bright and exciting color. I would expect to find someone wearing a blue or grey pinstripe suit with a red tie driving it. Not exactly the kind of person expected to be irresponsible. In fact it doesn't stand out except to more sophisticated viewers. I love mine for the same reason: meteormettalic which is a more sedate relative of silver which I love but which catches too many eyes. It is just bright enough to be seen on the open road, as opposed to a darker color that blends into the road color, and yet not too festive.
