Default Trunk pop fix!!

Okay
So it took me a year to finally get around to fix my trunk pop....motor spins fine from either side switch, but the hatch wouldn't open...tried adjusting the motor up and down, but nothing worked (up & down made the hatch not close BTW)...so I just wrote it off.

After Bill Ball & I changed my oil & oil thermostat, we decided to try a "shim" technique that I found at http://www.928s4.com/project/hatchrelease.htm so a couple scissors to a used mobil 1 bottle....drop it in place.... Worked perfect on the first try!!! Both of us were stunned that it was that easy!! I wish everything was that easy!!

So fixing the oil thermo & trunk pop was easy....the bummer is the drivers side of the steering rack is leaking!!!!! Damm...

Bill and I are experts at steering rack replacements. And we work for reasonable hourly rates...

Fluid dripping from the left side steering rack boot can often originate from the hose connections beneath the PS fluid reservoir and then run down the hoses to the rack. Worth checking before you pull the rack.

Yeah, the rack was a little surprise that popped up once the car was on the lift. The boot didn't gush like Nicole's, but it was holding a decent load of fluid and there was fluid around the area. The hoses were dry. Too bad.

I did have a slight leak from the PS reservoir...but it magically stopped on its own months ago....the bummer is it ran down the hose, then onto the forward suspension arm and dripped off that (I just saw the dried out crud a minute ago).

Bill
I checked the fluid level and it didn't change from the last time I checked it? But the boot still looks wet around the tie rod end? I will track the leak for about a week and see how bad it is leaking.
