Default Hot window Relay

My power window Relay gets very hot on my 82. I had the same one go out last year and when I removed it, the white plastic fuse board had a dark/ burn mark in it. Any idea what could be causing this to get so hot? It doesn’t sound normal to me. Nothing else gets warm in the fuse panel. Thanks

Corroded door motors or wiring, bad connections between the relay and the motors, windows jamming in the tracks. Most likely a combination of the above.

Thanks Dave,
The PO had cut the wires to the door. Mybe I have a bad splice. I will check the connections at the window motors as soon as I get the door panels off. Is there anything I should look for other than corrosion?

You can use an ohmmeter to check resistance between the relay contacts and the connectors on the motor. There should be no more resistance than what you would measure on a piece of wire about 8' long. Also see if the windows move up and down freely once you have the motors out. See if the motors turn freely once removed from the mechanism. Also, check the WSM for lube points in/on the mechanism.
