Soundproofing question
I will post pics when i am done, but got a bug up my a** and decided to mat the entire car, including the roof pannel, so it may next week till i have pics. Right now i have all the seats pulled, and the rear internal quarters pullled, all the carpet, and door pannels, but i still need to pull out the dash and the head liner to get the internal firewall and roof.
THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR LAYING MAT make sure you de-grease the pannels before you lay the mat on, or will come off over time and make a big mess. Use either the 3M prep you can get at your local paint shop, paint thinner, toluene, mineral spirits... whatver. If your interior is really dirty, clean it with dish soap and water first, let it dry, then go over it with the solvent. Also, it helps adhesion and adds a form fitting look if you use a heatgun on low or a hairdryer on high when applying mat.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them or pm me, and i will get back to you.

I am currently in the process of cleaning off all of the old adhesive residue that was underneath the carpeting. I have the area behind the front seats almost done and am working on the roof as well.
What I am interested in doing is to lay down as much sound-deadening material as I can all over the interior and then cover that with a Perlon type of carpeting. I am going for the RS "look" in my 928 and am wondering what material (sound-deadening) would be best to use when it will be covered by carpeting? Is there any that offer a better surface for carpet adhesive? Again, it will also be used on the roof, so it needs to hold.
Thank you for any information that you can give me.
