Default Headlight Delete

I am wondering if anyone has deleted the pop-up headlights and placed them where the driving lights down below are. I am going to be painting my car and am wondering if this might look better. I would cover in the holes where the existing pop-ups are to make the fenders smooth. The light holes would no longer exist.

Any comments or opinions about how this might look...

Warren,
It has been done - anyone have the photos? jacquemond has some alternates too.

Personally I like the Pop-ups though.

Better check out the legality of the lower lights before you do anything.

I would like to put a set of 997 headlights in place of the pop ups. That would look kinda neat.

Ernest,
I live in Northern Canada. Our driving rules are basically: Insure the crap out of your car, hire a lawyer to deal with tickets and then do what you like. I run a very loud exhaust and am certain that replacing the lights would not be an issue. BTW: Sounds almost like Texas, except we are no longer allowed guns
If anyone has the pics, I would love to see them. I searched the archives to no avail.

Whatever happened to that South African company that made a 996 body kit for the 928?

I'm FROM Canada and it's usually not that simple. If a Rikmup (RCMP) decides you're illegal you could be in a world of hurt.

I'm sure you can contact Pierre or he may even speak up once he sees this thread.

I looked into deleting the popups and going w/ standard lights like you are talking... unfortunately here in the states they sit too low to be legal..
odd considering the height of some of the ricers I've seen...

What about a body lift, suspension lift, and some big mud tires? That ought to get the headlights back up to legal level.

Now that would fit in with all of the vehicles we have up here. No one would even notice.
We have more Supercab 4x4's than everything else combined, and half of them are as you describe.

Ernest, I get pulled over about once a week for one excuse or another. They always mention the noise but half the 4x4's in town are just as loud so they never push it.

I think the frog eye pop-ups are one of the coolest features of the 928. I love driving with them on, such a cool look from the drivers position.

That being said this car is one of the best looking 928's I have ever seen. It has a version of a static light.
