Ah, now I know what yer sayin' - of course (slaps head) - the panel will ALWAYS be illuminated when the door is open so it will never look pink. Duh.

Unless the battery is dead or disconnected.

I gotta say that I think it's a pretty neat mod. Thanks for measuring, I've meant to go outside with a tape measure for two days now. Moreover, thanks for being a ginuea pig--let us know if the 1.5" strip is wide enough...

I suspect the indiglo you are talking about will never be bright enough. A nice touch, but it will still be pretty muted. I think a tiny LED light attached to the door that shines on the ground where you are stepping would be a better idea...but that's just me.
Here's my solution: I painted the clear plastic with a cheap spray paint that nearly matches my interior. Total bill: $2.29.
[sorry- for once I don't have a picture!]

Normy,
Uh ? where are you coming from here... hijacking the thread to street illumination ??
Some of us have done the sill illumination - very effective at night and the color change is effective daytime (though EL on/off is fairly irrelevant in any good daylight). Owners of light colored cars where there is already good logo color contrast may care less for it.
I certainly agree that a piece of laminated bright colored paper under the logo (or even paint it like you did ) has a beneficial effect also in daylight (but its not so cool at night!)
The effect is actually quite subtle despite what you may think. Maybe because my logo isn't quite as "laser blinding" as Schocki's, though maybe that just in the photo... its hard to do the realistic night time shot...
I think there was also discussion about floor & door handle illumination from the side mirror w/ keyless entry a few months back... not sure anyone has actually done it?
Alan

You don't need to wear shades at night when you open the door!
