OK, maybe you weren't the best example to use.
LOL...
I don't seem to be able to have a custom sig though, so i don't have that option at this time.
Hey, where did the "Specialist" thingy under my SN come from? I was a Corporal!

It's ironic, we tend to request that people put info about their car in their sig so they don't have to keep re-typing it when asking for help... and the helpers don't have to keep asking about MY, AT/MT, etc. -- yet the new folks who could probably benefit most from this can't do it. Not campaigning, just noticing...

I'm one of those odd birds that doesn't see a need to pay to have a custom sig or post on a message board.....LOL.
Maybe i should charge on my site, all those freeloading custom sig using members i have, i could make a ton of money.
What's 1460 members x19 bucks each?
$27,740.
Maybe a nominal $.25 per post fee to boot!
Let's see- 67,000 posts times $.25.... that's another $16,750 bucks.
LOL
I'm just throwing away money.

Most folks don't pay the Membership fee here just for the extra perks. They pay because they recognize Rennlist as a value-added resource and want to contribute to the on-going success of the community.
I'm guessin' that with 500+ posts, you may have received some value here as well.

Tarek - great looking car. I'm one of those who probably wouldn't own it, but it's certainly something to look at, get ideas and learn from! Your car is proof of the breadth of personality an owner can give a 928. Just think about it....there are the extremes (such as yours), to the mild-manored, to the very "classy" and original looks. The 928 can carry all of these faces. Quite impressive in my opinion.
Could you post pics of your other sharks? I'm sure we'd all like to see more pics.

Randy, Sniperbill, Tarek, et al;
First off, Randy...what a great 'Cab' you sold Tarek. One tight little Beitch. Great power for an ol'bugger. Had a blast cruisin' south beach with Tarek. Just sold my white cab to a NE 928'er. Still want to cry...
Sniperbill; I've driven Tareks wide/wide body car. Never in all my years have I been soo stared at. What a cool feeling. At first I wasn't too keen on it's looks but after a few days I wanted to own it, still do. I call dibs!!
Bill, my grandmother taught me one thing; always be telling the truth, but don't always be telling it.
Tarek; cool hangin' with you again. That piece of SHI& 951 made it all the way home (barely). The last 15 miles were very iffy. Lucky for it, I was ready to burn the pile-o-crap in South Carolina. Should've regardless... (p.s. the oil loss was the blown turbo, not the engine)

Sharkskin, i run a free website/message board for the fine folks of the USAF(and US military in general, though i also have a lot of civvie members) as a sign of my desire 'to give something back'.
We all 'give' in our own ways.
If i was rich i'd 'give' more, but i'm just another squirrel tryin' to find a nut.

Well, I saved the $32/2yr membership fee many times over as a result of finding helpful info here. If it's not worth $16/yr to you, that's your call. You must see some value in hanging around here though, based on your 600 posts in 6 weeks...

The website i run costs a hell of a lot more than 16 bucks a year to run, i assure you.
I think i've given back a good bit of info in return here vs what i've gotten, should i charge for it?
This is not the only place to get the info i've gotten here anyway(no slam on rennlist in any way, but it's not). Call any of the big three with almost any question, and they'll do their best to answer it for you. They do get the vast majority of my 928 business. Because of posts i made here, one of them has already recieved several hundred dollars in business from me(not that they wouldn't have anyway). They're rennlist sponsors, and i imagine that's the reason why. Nichols website is a tremendous resource, and he doesn't charge a dime. He's not alone either.
Rennlist is perfectly within their rights to charge an annual fee for full membership, they have a well run site, and bandwidth aint cheap, and they've obviously got a market.
Besides, i wasn't the one that even brought it up to begin with, lol.
PS: Self employed with a ridiculous billable rate = lots of free time to shoot the breeze, and i'm a very fast typer.

No Dis....
I just thought that was funny. There are a lot of guys around here that would be retiring rich if they had a quarter for every time they helped someone out here.
And you did bring up that you "don't seem to be able to have a custom sig though" in post 44 above, and I pointed out that was a feature enabled for members. In the same post I pointed out one of the warts in the system; believe me, I'm not saying Rennlist is a perfect Shangri-la.
Anyway, in your next post, it seemed you were belittling the whole notion of charging for something that people might find to be of value. After all that, your question about charging for what you offer struck me as funny. Don't you see any irony there?
