Default HELP! - Throttle Linkage Ball slips off

I was stranded on the side of the road today because the accel. pedal went all of the way to the floor. The ball for the throttle linkage slips off. Luck I had some strong zip ties with me and was able to get it home. I have looked on 923 Intl's website but can't find that part. Does anyone have any suggestions, or have one of those ball connectors that screws on the throttle linkage?

Same problem with mine. The ends of the ball joints do not have the retaining clips like the rest of the ball joints. Must have been an oversight or something, I can't understand it really. Anyway the new one has the retaining clip holes, so you'll need to get extra clips. To put the throttle ball joint on with the clip, you'll have to remove the intakes. I just took the air filter box off and had my wife put it on for me, no way was I getting my fat arm in there. 928 Spec. has it it's the carb pull rod # 928 110 719 01 for a whopping $17.03. Makes you feel good doesn't it.

Been there, done that.

Been stranded on I-10 in Arizona in 100+ degree heat midday ripping apart the intake to reach the rod. Forget that. Go from the upper end of the engine nearest the firewall and access it that way. It can be done. I always carry a small roll of thin wire; cut off some and wrap it around the bellcrank end of the rod so that it can't come off. I still have some on the linkage at the other end of that rod that connects at the front of the engine. It is staying on there until I find some more money to fix it properly. It has worked for about 8000 miles so far.

Make sure you don't have the ends reversed. They are not the same size. When reversed, the end on the throttlebody can easily slip off. Been there, done that.

You CAN get the throttlebody linkage attached without removing the intake. It takes time and patiences, but it can be done. I did it on the side of the highway in a suit and tie leaning over a hot engine in about 10 minutes.

Mine came off on the front, where it connects to the kickdown and accelerator cables. I have searched through 928 Spec. site and still can't find it.

I just found it on 928 Intl. $19.00 I'll try the wire thing if I have to drive it. Thank you all for your tips. (especially bwebb, thanks for the P/N)
