Default Amber Bulb for Clear Turnsignals

OK, you may have read my odessey with the wrong type of turnsignal/parking light bulb.

So, what is the correct AMBER bulb? Can't find an official Porsche bulb chart, but the autoparts store lighting book says P21/5W, which I gather is a 2 filament 5W (parking) 21W (signal) bulb.

My autoparts guy says his supplier cannot get a P21/5W in amber - says they are not made. He ended up telling me to try a 2057 which is 8W parking, noting that it has a higher resistance base than P21/5W so will probably trip the bulb warning - he was aware of that issue.

Is there a source for P21/5W amber? Maybe the 2057 will work fine. What did you other clear lens guys use?

I got the clear lenses and replaced the Porche-spec bulbs with the 1157 version of the Sylvania Silverstars in order to avoid the "fried egg' appearance of an orange blob in the center of the clear lens. They work fine, look good, and do not set a bulb-error from the light monitoring control unit.

I DID use 1157 - that is single contact, right? Maybe I have my numbers mixed up. That bulb shorted the dual contacts and caused the sidemarkers and parking light taillight setting to short with the turn signals, at least on one side.

You guys did not have that experience?

Glad to hear the front is not in bulb monitoring. If so, then I should go ahead with the 2057.

The lenses I got are not perfectly clear so the amber blob is not vbisible.

OK, I got my numbers mixed....It was an 1156 that shorted things. The guy at the store gave me 1157NA, so I'm set. Sorry for the Alzheimer moment...at least I hope it's just a moment.
