I cannot recall the exact hose layout of the '85-86 32v, but believe there is a similar inlet to the ICV as for the S4. For the latter, it is accessed to the rear of the left cam cover. Open the rear hose of item #12 and spray your choice of carb cleaner/LPS-2/WD-40 . Start the engine briefly to distribute the stuff, spray some more and let it sit for a while. The idea is to inhale enough to soak and clean the disc valve.

nice pic that I previously lifted from Tony!

Tried this one out tonight to see if it helps since I REALLY don't wanna pull stuff apart again to replace it. Keeping my fingers crossed. I used throttle and carb cleaner and I will try brake cleaner next if this attempt doesn't work.

Michael,

I think brake cleaner would be a bit harsh in there, especially with no way to rinse it out afterward. Also, you want a lubricant, not so much a cleaner, no? I think the reason behind the WD40 is to lube up the pivot point and loosen up the edges of the valve.

Agreed on the harshness of brake cleaner, hadn't really thought about it from that perspective. OK, WD-40 it is then if the carb cleaner doesn't do it.

You can get to the ICV by taking off the air cleaner and then remove the maf. No need to remove the intake. I just did this (again) for a idle isue I have been having.

Didn't we check your ISV when everything was taken apart a few months ago? I thought we hooked it to a 9 volt battery and it snapped open and closed like it was supposed to.
