Can anyone help as to where the idle stabilizer/control valve is located on an early 86 32v model.
Also can it be serviced without removal of the intake system?.

I would also be very interested in this. Since the installation of the SC, mine seems to be a bit slow to respond when I take my foot of the throttle.

how about this:

Where can I look up the Idle Stabilizer/Control valve location for an early 86S ?
I need to give it the WD-40 treatment.
The idle stumble is getting worse by the day.

Ahhh ok, thanks for the pic. I remember seeing this part at the right (passanger side) rear of the engine.

The procedure woud be to spray WD40 into it and let is sit for a while?

Thanks, thats' eaxctly what I was guessing on.
Just one question. To spaw WD 40 into it, can I get to any of the air hose for the controller withouth taking the intake runners off?

Imo...I'm not sure. I'm trying to dig up a better picture of the valve to see whether there's another hose aside from the large breather line that's more accessible. Perhaps someone who's actually done the WD40 thing can offer assistance.

I've got a slight stumble at idle, too, so I need to try the same thing. I'm certain there aren't any vaccum leaks.

Looks like it can be accessed and lubricated without removing the intake runners. Which port would you squirt the WD-40 into? I see there are two?.

Can please explain a bit more? I can't see the possibility without removing the intake runners. The "J shaped hose in the pic goes to the main (T-shaped) intake runner located above the throttle body. The other air hose "should" be connected TO the throttle body.

The other hose located at the back of the air controller (going to the top of the valve cover) is not connected to it, or is it?

I was just in that part of the motor this weekend changing the heater control valve. You can access it from the back side of the engine bay if you remove both halves of the air filter housing. The valve appears to be next to the MAF.
I was able to pull out the MAF and clean the screen while the bottom half of the air filter housing was removed. I could be wrong though.

In my experience...the only way to get at...inspect...or remove/replace the idle control valve on my 86.5 model, was to have the air filter box "off", and to have the intake air manifold off the engine...this makes the entire "valley" of the V8 engines accessible for inspection and replacement of vacuum lines, and hoses/fittings normally "inaccessible" with the air intake runners still in place. But as to the question of how to inject WD-40...or some other lubricant/cleaner into the IAC part proper...I don't have any idea how to accomplish this, and am also waiting curiously for an "enlightened" person...to let us in on this procedure.
