Oops..good point! That would have annoyed me. I don't want to open up my console (possible after-market stereo rat's nest in that area). I'll look for a switched terminal down on the panel.

Dave use one of these - (on the '89 anyway) easiest possible path - just use one of the low value fuse circuits that is ignition/accessory switched (5A, 7.5A) and add on a 1A (or 3A fuse) for the V1. BTW on a 928 the wire should go at the bottom:
