Look, there are going to be failures and problems with any new system.
It just depends if you air those problems in public, or in private.
My guess is that the MURPH guys had their share of tip-in-detonation,
blown head gaskets, and other problems while in R&D. They just kept
it in their garages in Wisconsin, and did not air their dirty laundry for
all to see. I give them credit for putting out a nice kit, that seems to
work well for most people. But at the same time, Andy has gone
ahead and made his work public all along. He tossed his manifolds
out there for people to buy, and helped people the best he could.
But people just get really nasty if things are not working perfectly.
All I have to say about that, is that if the MURPH guys would be
really honest about it, I bet they blew a few head gaskets,
and had a few shaking engines, a few problems with installations
in the early phases. It just depends if you air those problems,
and let other people rip on you for those problems, or if you
wait until you have it all worked out. All I know, is that Andy
did his best to put out a product that was cheap, effective,
and really cool. And did his best to help people. I give him
a lot of props for doing that, when he did not have to do it.
He could have just done one for his car, and left the supercharging
kits to MURPH, etc... But he made kits for people, because people
wanted his kits. So give him some slack if things do not always
go perfectly. Because I doubt every minute of the MURPH R&D
was trouble-free... And if someone ripped them a new one,
every time there was a problem with their kits, it would
have gotten just as ugly. I think both Andy and Tim do
their best to help their customers get their cars running
properly. So cut them all some slack, and try not to sling
so many insults and so much slander. Try to help the
owners get their cars running nice, and try to get more
supercharged sharks on the road... That should be the focus...
Not all this mud-slinging. People should be here to help...
Not fight.

course, none of this is even a bit funny... IMO, it's caviat emptor... most aftermarket 928 suppliers are small shops that have limited resources.... although some products have been tested more than others and have better QC, etc - none will ever undergo OEM/govt test specs, so an element of risk has to be assumed by anyone attempting to "hot rod" a sophisticated machine like a shark w/"bolt on" stuff...
as such, IMO - anything you do that changes the way these things work changes the owner from mere consumer to the status of test pilot/guinee pig as soon as the airbox comes off.... clearly, some folks are better suited for that role than others... and obviously, folks will experience different issues as the products get refined/developed over time... no big surprises there....
IMO, the big dog HP product award will be when someone puts the 100th blower or stroker in (not the same car either)... till then, it's just all science projects to me....
doesn't mean they can't be fun, or a major PITA though...
