The gas in the tank is over a year old! I'll have fresh gas standing by. Yeah..I'm gonna owe you guys B.I.G.!! Not a problem. I really appreciate the help!

It's gonna be hot, but I have the garage fan ready to stir up the hot air.
I'll have plenty of iced tea, coffee, beer, etc...as well.

Well, as long as it's got the de-galling Framus attachment, we're good. Oh, and a bump too.

It was the ignition switch that failed AND it appears that some "mechanic" fooled with the crank sensor and didn't get it connrected right.
We should have it up and running in about 1/2 hour.

Saw the name of this thread on the main forum page on my way to the 951/s forum and I didn't feel like reading through all the pages to see if someone mentioned Istook's already; they're great for porsche service and they are right in fort worth (7th st west of downtown)

Great work guys. With the number of years 928 experience under the hood and dash, I wouldn't have expected any other outcome!

Istook will use up just as much $$$$$$$$$$ trying to figure out how 928s work as any other non 928 mechanic.
The initial problem was the ignition switch. Two more problems were created by "mechanics". The crank sensor was damaged and the relay panel was damaged. When you inserted the fuel pump relay it pushed the socket back instead of engaging the pins.
Doc did the diagnostics with Jim's help. John and Doc did the wrenching and Roger was the pod/ignition switch guru.

Ernest, I just wanted to thank you for the free exam earlier, John thanks for being there to hold me down... I am guessing you guys got the car running? If you did, I dont know how you did it without my presents and overwhelming knowlege.

Once he replaces his ignition switch the car should start right up.

THANKS TO Doc, Ernie, Jim, John and Roger!!!!!!
It would'nt have happened without you! This group of guys were incredible at troubleshooting the problems with my car. The car actually came to life after sitting idle for over a year. Simply amazing!!!! I hope to have the car put back together and ready for Marble Falls in Sept. Once again...Thank you all for the support. You didn't have to do it, but you did and I am in your debt!!!

A very successful day. Thanks to Jon for his hospitality and putting up with the DFW team.

I know Doc will post some of the technical details, however I have some pics I wanted to share.
The first two show the technical maestro's.
1st Picture: Doc - front left & Jim M - front right) Jon - the owner - is center back.
2nd picture: Doc in the engine bay and Jim M in the passenger seat.

3rd picture is the team
L to R
John C, Jim M, Doc, Jon (the owner) & Patrick (Jon's son).

I got real lucky and was able to take the photograph while Ernie was inside visiting the restroom (didn't crack the camera)

Thanks to Doc for the after tech session swimming and BBQ.

The red intake is the result of a massive brain fart! I hope to remedy the situation, along with the valve covers when I go back in and do some "minor" valve work.

I wrenched with Jim and Doc before, great guys!!!

What's wrong with a red intake and valve covers? I was planning to do mine in powdercoat red wrinkle finish, yeah baby.
