It was the ignition switch that failed AND it appears that some "mechanic" fooled with the crank sensor and didn't get it connrected right.
We should have it up and running in about 1/2 hour.

 

Saw the name of this thread on the main forum page on my way to the 951/s forum and I didn't feel like reading through all the pages to see if someone mentioned Istook's already; they're great for porsche service and they are right in fort worth (7th st west of downtown)

 

Great work guys. With the number of years 928 experience under the hood and dash, I wouldn't have expected any other outcome!

 

Istook will use up just as much $$$$$$$$$$ trying to figure out how 928s work as any other non 928 mechanic.
The initial problem was the ignition switch. Two more problems were created by "mechanics". The crank sensor was damaged and the relay panel was damaged. When you inserted the fuel pump relay it pushed the socket back instead of engaging the pins.
Doc did the diagnostics with Jim's help. John and Doc did the wrenching and Roger was the pod/ignition switch guru.

 

Ernest, I just wanted to thank you for the free exam earlier, John thanks for being there to hold me down... I am guessing you guys got the car running? If you did, I dont know how you did it without my presents and overwhelming knowlege.

 

Once he replaces his ignition switch the car should start right up.

It would'nt have happened without you! This group of guys were incredible at troubleshooting the problems with my car. The car actually came to life after sitting idle for over a year. The red intake is the result of a massive brain fart! I hope to remedy the situation, along with the valve covers when I go back in and do some "minor" valve work.

What's wrong with a red intake and valve covers? I was planning to do mine in powdercoat red wrinkle finish, yeah baby.
