Mark:

The 245/45/16s are .2" shorter in overall diameter than the 225/50/16 oem tire

24.7" vs 24.9".

According to the miata tire converter http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html that results in a reading 0.7% fast vs the stock tire size.

When my speedo indicates 60mph i am actually travelling at 59.6

The readings i gave were cruise rpms in 4th(top) gear.

You seem pretty familiar with this formula mark, feel like running my numbers for me so i can finally know what my final drive ratio is?

"What year is yours? You should be able to determine final drive based on that, unless somebody did something wacky with your car:"

83 US, but i know the trans has been modified. It always starts in 1st regardless of gear selector position and throttle position.
As i understand, that is not normal behaviour for the MB unit, which should start in 1st from a standing start only when the GO pedal is depressed close to all the way.

I can put away from a light at 5% throttle, and it will start in first regardless.
