What kind of problems would one expect from putting in a 20 year old 'new' engine?

Years ago we bought 10 new 78 crate engines and I only remember hearing about a problem with one after installation. It would not surprise me to find out that many had never been installed and this is probably one of them. Some of the engines had some preproduction parts on them and I think I see a few in those pictures.

Well, I guess gaskets and o-rings tend to crack and shrink over time...

A crate engine should be properly coated with a protectant to prevent that.

Its seems to me that its a non-question as to whether the engine would be taken apart and reoiled and resealed.
