Took out a guido in a 7 series BMW this afternoon. Couldn't stop smiling...until some old dude in a 997 turbo spanked me like a 2 dollar hoe...

Dang, I wish I had an extra 100 grand lying around...

You mean 996 Twin Turbo right? The 997 Turbos are not out yet.

I guess...always get confused. Don't pay a lot of attention to 911s in general. I guess that makes me a Porsche heathen!

Beautiful car though. Old dude driving with a big Black Lab in the passenger seat. The car ran like s**t through a goose. I stayed with him for a second, and then he just disappeared and left me there like I was driving an Yugo.

No doubt the 996 Twin Turbo is a VERY QUICK Porsche especially if it was X50 packaged, mine was not, but consider with the X50 almost 450 ponies put to the ground and spooled ina quick second into 3400 pounds... yea this guy was definately in a position to let you smoke his azz pipe(s) for as long as you tried to chase him!

Watch for the new Cayman (Gayman in some circles) its clearly about to make a debut that finally makes a stock Boxster quicker than an S4 or GT- 0-60 times below 5.0 seconds..ouch! Top speeds 171 double ouch!! Quarter Mile 13.7@105mph... the Gayman is about to get some real respect!!!

I got raped by a about an '03 911 Turbo(no idea what the correct model is, they're all 911s to me) just after i bought my car....and i mean RAPED.

That was what lead me to begin modding the car, so i'd make a respectible showing next time i ran into one, lol. Havn't ran into one since.

You don't need $100k, just $4500 for a SC kit, or about $1k for a nitrous kit.

My last race was against a hopped up 1.8T 5spd VW GTI Turbo(Loudest BOV i've ever heard). Not sure on the year, looked like about an '00 or something.
Launched off the line even with him, picked up half a length on his 1-2 shift, another 1/2 at his 2-3 shift, and a full length on his 3-4 shift, at which point my shark shifted to 3d at my usual 98mph and the $*%&$# flew by me like i was standing still at about 110mph.

I'd have beaten him in the 1/4 by over a length though...my shark traps out between 102 and 103, and a few MPH less in street trim.

Of course the little %$%$%* got off it the second he passed me. I wanted him to stay in it to see if he could hold me off topend....which i highly, highly doubt.

Then we get to the next light and the %*%(*^ weasel wanted to talk smack.

I pointed out i beat him in the 1/4, and that if he thought his car was so hot he shoulda stayed in it until he topped out instead of bailing as soon as he got out front. "You bailed at about 115. Pfft, my car is just barely warming up at that speed".
Then i pointed out that i paid all of $3400 bucks for my car, and that shut him completely up.

All his G/F said was "Wow, that's a really pretty porschhhh".

LOL.

Porsche....there is no substitute.

PS: Nice Kill. I love spanking Johnny hotrods in their mustangs. Watch out for '04 and up Cobras though. They consistently take me 0-100 by 4, 4-1/2 lengths.

Too fast for me in street trim on pump gas, but he'll know i'm there, that's for sure.

My machine shifts into fourth at around 130 mph. Could that GTI hang with it?
I surely would prefer to be in my 928 if he tried it, rather than the other way around !!

My list that's worth mentioning is, starting form the easiest kill to the more difficult:

Modified 99 Eclipse TSI.

Infinity G35 coupe.

2001+ M5.

I had my butt handed to me (jut barely but still) by a WRX STI.

This was all before the supercharger went on.

RON: My auto shifts into 4th somewhere around there too. Usually at that speed i'm not paying any attention whatsoever to my gages, so i don't really know exactly at what speed it occurs.

And seriously, that car coulda beat me by 20 lengths....i'd still never trade my 928 for a econo-box, no matter how fast.

Looking good is a big part of the equation too.

"Infinity G35 coupe."

Actually, that's a Nissan Skyline rebadged as an Infiniti.
Pretty fast cars. I had one stay with me to 140 once when they first came out. I couldn't friggin' believe it!

When i finally ran one a few months back from a standing start i spanked him pretty good, but from a roll, those cars are pretty doggoned quick.

How's the SC working for ya? Get the results you were looking for? Got any final install pix bro?

Yea but you can bet your bottom dollar he/she was feeling everybit of that speed in the WRX...every single bit! Thats like driving a phone booth on wheels and feels about as safe at those speeds!

The PNW group had there asses handed to them all frick'n day last year by 3 STI's. Knock em all you want but those suckers will kill a stock 928 on the track. I was doing 135 - 140 down the front straight and they were on my *** and when it came to the twisties... fugitaboutit. I was not alone in my amazement at what these cars did. I am sure my PNW brothers will let me be boo'd off this thread in silence however
