Default Grind or not to grind

Replaced rod bearings today in the S4 and found a grove in the #8 journal. The grove was deep enough to barely catch a fingernail. The bearing was soomth.Should the crank be polished or ground or not do anything?
Thank you for your imput.

Terrence........given that you've gone this far why would you not rectify the problem? Is the groove all the way around the journal at an even depth?

Polish the journal if possible otherwise a reground crank shall require oversize bearings then you may consider doing all journals.

I'm guessing that the engine is in the car, and you're doing one of the often recommended rod bearing refresh jobs while doing a pan gasket/motor mounts ... ?
If this is the case, it is likely that the rod bearing in question would have lasted another 200K -300K had it not been disturbed. At this point, I would only add a fresh bearing. At the most, a light buff of the journal with a long strip of crocus cloth were there a sharp edge to the groove.
If the bearing were down to the copper, engine out of the car, rod through the block, etc - please add more info - so I can gracefully withdraw my opinion ...
