I didn't think I was insulting brown....... seriously.. I would rather have brown than a bs respray that included the black spoilers....etc. this was a nice 84 with good miles, a keeper, and I think the respray ruined it.

Hey! The poor sucker got cheated! The windshield wipers are still black! Not to mention the bracket for the driving lights and turn signals!
And maybe that ain't exactly overspray on the left front tire. Maybe he's just gettin' started painting the tires red.
And apparently people are actually bidding on this car...

More obscene is the controversy we see on this forum. I bought Randy's convertible and when he posted pics on here, everyone was drooling over it and went on and on about him not doing justice to the OB market. The paint on it is exactly the same as this car, as far as painting over trim, keyholes, etc... So basically it's pretty much the same, except that Randy's (now mine) car looked much worse...in fact, it's horrible compared to this one (for the record, he represented it fairly and honestly, so I knew exactly what I was buying)...but the point is that it IS MUCH MORE OBSCENE than this car, yet somehow the masses bowed to it
There was another thread a while back about painting S spoilers. Highly regarded members of this community expressed their liking for it...and the sheep followed there too
One of those days you too immaculate-only-proud-928-owner will be the victim of a previous owner, a bad mechanic, or body shop...may be even a dent you can't afford to fix... For some reason or another you will not be able to get out of the situation and end up up just living with it and biting your lips everyday...and I guarantee you there will be a pretentious 928 fan around the corner with nothing better to do but style, profile, and add insult to injury

Whoa. I think we wuz just havin' a little fun.
Beyond that, speaking only for myself, my car happens to need a paint job too. I can't afford it at the present time.
So I'll keep waiting and saving up. Because I respect the car enough to have it done right.
That's what it boils down to for me. It's not about being some kind of a snob. It's about respect for a Porsche 928.

Tarek-
I cannot agree with you. We all know right from wrong, good from bad. This car is an example of someone picking up a car at auction and deciding that a crappy red paint job from E scheib for $300 is worth $500 more on Ebay than the original brown. I think that is wrong. Randy's car causes drooling because it is a convertible. It is unique and part of the woven tapestry of 928 history. I am saying that repainting a decent 928 and ruining the spoilers does the car a disservice. It is now prohibitively expensive to undo the damage to what is otherwise a keeper. I HOPE this car "makes it" for more years or decades, but I am afraid that the crappy paint may relegate it to a scrap heap sooner rather than later. I have already been the victim of a PO, and yes, my car was fortunate enough to be saved by someone with more money than brains. I doubt this car will be as lucky as mine or yours. I do understand what you are saying about a 928 fan who may buy this and feel like he is inferior to the "big names" on Rennlist..... take it from someonewho feels like a small fish in the biggest shark tank anytime he posts.....

Front bumper cover is from a pre-S model, ducts are missing. On some pictures it looks like the mirrors were not painted at all - they look ligher, duller.
Seats don't look too bad, but look at the uniqe partial leather cover of the shifter! No image of the top of the dash - we can all imagine why.
Cover for window washer reservoir missing. Cover over wiper motor installed wrong, will break soon.
A car for someone who wants a cheap daily driver in RED and does not mind giving the inteiror TLC and waiting for the paint to peel around the trim. It's going to happen, sooner or later...

My car has India Red in some spots, Gaurds Red in others. Horrid cracking across the front, side moldings missing from the doors but still on the body. It's ******' ugly. But the black moldings between the nose and fender and the headlamp washers are still black, as are the spoilers. I couldn't put a paint job like that on a car, any car. That looks way Scheib to me. The only thing missing from those pics is high enough resolution to show the swirl marks from the buffer, you know, when the detailer "cut" the paint to really make her shine...
But after reading through this thread I really only have one question- What the hell is nougat, really?

Brett - there is no backlight for that panel.
Parnelli, the wizzo that names colours derives inspiration from many sources: here's one ... "Nougat
Particularly popular in southern Europe, this confection is made with sugar or honey, roasted nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios or hazelnuts) ... Brown nougat is made with caramelized sugar and, in addition to being a darker color, is normally firmer in texture."
It could have been called "Snickers" - but that's a bit colloquial ...
