Question HVAC Blower Fan

Question, my blower fan is rubbing against the bottom of the housing - lot of noise and resistance as you may imagine. Anyone know if this is something repairable or just the end life of the unit? Thanks

Probably end of life -- worn bushings.

Local electric motor shop. Rebuild unit. Presuming shaft is OK.

I had my blower fan replaced about a year ago and the difference between the old and new was like night and day. I had it replaced because of an annoying squeak but what surprised me is the air flow I now get. Much more than before - and the annoying squeak is gone.

The blower fan on my '80 hosted a mouse nest one winter (storage): Feathers, string etc got tangled around the impeller shaft, initially causing a squeal - and quickly an overload, which killed the blower output. After a good clean up and a relube of the top bearing, the reinstalled fan still works as new - several years later.
May be worthwhile looking inside the discharge bellows - or removing the rubber cap on the top bearing for a shot of oil.

Thanks Garth - I'll give that try, worth the attempt.
