http://www.pelicanparts.com has a discussion forum. Must be the place Oldtee is referring to.

it's an off topic discussion, DO NOT take a bad light of DCA without reading "between" the lines and my reply to the nasty posts in this thread
I know Rob well, he is an ORIGINAL sponsor of R'list and runs a TOP NOTCH operation and would recommend him to anyone (his 928 parts availability is limited, but he does occasionally have the real odd stuff that the Big3 don't have in stock)

That is an irresponsible post. It seems that the situation is being rectified on that thread and you are insisting on giving DC Automotive a bad name.

928 aside. I've delt with DCA quite a few times. Rob's always known exactly what I was looking for and gave me awasome prices. Very nice guy to deal with.

I have also delt with Rob at DC Auto, and I found him to be of the best kind.

I purchased a "new" S4 front bumper cover from him for less than most others were charging used (And that was with free US shipping!)

I also visited his shop in Bridgeport CT, and he personally showed me every 928 item that he had (I left with 3 large boxes of goodies )

Cheers,
Mike

Here is an important post from there:
it may be a long time, but ebay ad clearly states : (has valid paperwork, CT does not issue titles for vehicles built prior to 1980) As a licensed dismantler i have never had a state refuse the state of CT paperwork, but check with your DMV, if enough time is provided i can produce an NC title.

It has taken me months to get NJ & NY titles. I'm no lawyer, but I would think that if DC provides you with CT paperwork, they have complied with the auction terms.

From CT DMV Website: The acquisition of a certificate of title for any vehicle manufactured prior to 1981 shall not be required.

I've visited Rob in CT too. He actually worked on my car and resolved a number of electrical problems for free. Yes of course you can't leave his place without a box of goodies

I generally suggest to my friends who aren't trial lawyers that they not go around threatening litigation. It makes them look like ignorant yahoos.

This problem is making the rounds. If he picked up the phone I'm sure most of the drama could have been avoided - IMHO

As usual there are two sides to every story; in any case it was my fault for promising Andew an NC title for a CT vehicle. (CT does not issue titles for 23+ year old cars). From the beginning Andrew you were informed of the CT paperwork. You asked for a NC title I said ok; I assured you that you would eventually get a title from us, one way or the other. As a licensed bonded dealer with a great reputation and good credit, we have a variety of ways to get a title; including the old brute force method.
I have been made aware of other posts Andrew that you have made in public; words like 'ripped off' and incompetance are very much unwarranted, i guess your sister the lawyer was not privvy to your posts? Advertising, positive or negative is very expensive.
As the entire world is googled we are going to require a full retraction, apology and maybe a handshake; (when this is resolved) you have most certainly jumped the gun. Four months is not unheard of, especially with the situation we had; it was your decision not to work on the car; and i respect that; although again as a licensed/bonded dealer it was a guarantee that you would see a title. I fully expect to have an NC title in hand within the next two weeks; you will have it after the public retraction.

Regards,

Robert M. Zampardi

I got no dog in this hunt. I just thought it was an interesting situation and warrants looking at for self education when doing business over the internet with people you don't know. It helps to know the rules and know what to look for.

Holding a title hostage, subject to a retraction, may be illegal.

Can't we all be friends?
